Petite riders with welsh cobs

Just wondering if there are any other petite people out there with good sized welsh cobs?
Although I am progressing well with my heavy 15hh mare, I still have people telling me she too much for me. I am only 5' 1" and a size 10 but I dont think that has anything to do with it!
Yes she is strong when ridden (cantering or jumping mainly) and difficult on the ground when in season but if I am managing with her and we are progressing whats the problem?
She is lovely to hack (as all horses can have an off day tho!)
When not in season is a dope on a rope to lead and I can trust her enough to let my 7 year old groom and be lead reined round on her.

When I have a rough day with her though and people say these things I really do feel like I'm not 'enough'?.

Tell them to keep their noses out, its nothing to do with your size, but how you ride and handle her. If you feel you are coping with her and can see progress, there is no problem at all! Just enjoy your horse :) I am 5'2 and 8stone, I do not have my own horse but ride for other people, from 12.2 ponies right through to 17hh horses. One of which is a bolshy welsh mare, sounding similar to yours. People said to her owner why am I riding her? She should find someone stronger. On Sunday I took her to dressage, came out with two 2nd's and beat a number of people that compete at BE90 and 100. Ignore them and enjoy your horse :)

I do sometimes wonder what it would be like to own a lighter and better behaved horse but I love her to bits and i think i cope just fine with her!

Just think about the sense of acheivment you will feel every time you make progress with her. You will be able to shove it all back in their faces one day :)

Tell them to keep their beak out its no-ones business but yours. If your happy with your horse thats all that matters :).

Whilst not petite I'm 5ft2 and ride a 14hh Welsh D - yep I get comments from time to time and ignore them - I'm happy, boyo's happy that all that matters to me xx

This is me (5') hunting a 15.3hh Welsh cobasaurus... As you can see, we're having an absolutely awful time here, just awful :D
 
If your happy what does it matter!

My late boy was 14.3, a tank and challenging shall we say. I had him from when i was 11 until this year, I was 23 when he was PTS. I'm 5'3" on a good day and a size 8/10 and obviously smaller at 11. We got on just fine, doing all PC then RC activities, teams etc. I got told he was too much for me at times, I just proved he wasn't!

I now also ride a 16hh D for a friend. To look at I look stupid on him my legs hardly come over the saddle. But who cares we get on just fine even when he has his 'welsh' moments!
 
who cares what other people think, tell them to **** off lol As long you are happy with what you have got and that really, is all that matters :)

I am 5ft 3 and size 8, I ride all sorts but my horse is 15.1hh Andalusian X Welsh and we work well together :)
