Petition against equestrian sports!!!!!

Ok, so i know nothing about this person but honestly, what kind of idiot is he! So, we should ban equestrianism totally should we? Hmm, ok then well we'd best therefore DEFINITELY ban greyhound racing (mush crueller), dog agility, flyball, training dogs to sniff out drugs, track criminals, detect bombs etc as well then surely? well, they didn't 'volunteer' for that did they. Guess we should then also ban the training of dogs as guide dogs and assitance dogs for deaf people etc etc etc! Honestly, what a load of rubbish!!

Sure there are cruel elements and sadly that is a part of humankind but is not the majority of us. As for the US slaughter house comment - yep, because of this there have been so many more problems - haven't there been issues of horses being stolen and butchered and their meat being sold on the black market since the closures??

this man clearly needs a reality check - what should we do with our horses???!! Lol
 
Admittedly the photos are grim. We cannot deny that fact. :( But some of these are cruelty and neglect cases that need urgent attention and have nothing to do with riding (the emaciated arab and ponies up to their knees in muck). We dont all go round ripping our horses mouths out as in the photos on the website. I agree some people do but lets not tar all horse riders with the same brush. Also just seen those pictures of him riding! What a joke! I agree with previous posters - why doesn't he help these welfare cases rather than trying to ban riding?
 
not read all the replies but the guy is a ultra right wing ex-mercenary with a very dodgy past. He's a nut with his own agenda-his own horses don't look all that happy (as alot of over-NH'd horses don't). there's a 'closed' forum on his site that if you are on, you get chucked off for the slightest questioning.
 
Just had a look at the photographs

And yes they are grim, the racing ones show photographs of horses with broken legs, accidents will happen, the harness racing, all the gadgets they use although preparing to be shot down to me harness racing and it happens a lot round here involves the least amount of experianced horseman than any sport, they are in it for the win without the knowlege and money behind racing.

Then I go on to find out that eventing and show jumping are cruel, he shows photographs of extremes, of generally not particularly good riders and we have all seen them, however this is by far the minority however acourding to him I am cruel, I participate in both.

Then he goes on to show the extremes in dressage, horses with cut mouths, however again the minority and the onces that will not have won!
My poor horse he does dressage, show jumping and eventing how cruel am I?

So no I would never sign the petition!

Please, don't label this man NH, please don't. He's absolutely, very, radically, not from the same roots at all. His training approach is kept very secret, you have to subscribe to his club, and be a true follower to find out how he trains his horses. Personally, having watched a lot of videos, some not available any more, I'm suspicious. My feeling is that he uses the usual training methods, some that may look a bit NH, some very conventional, and then takes that away to show his amazing liberty and tackless riding stuff. Just my gut feeling.
I disagree with someone earlier who said that horses wouldn't do what they do unless they enjoyed it. Horses are amazing animals and some people are very lucky that most horses don't seem to know their own strength. I've seen ponies literally beaten round courses of jumps, they certainly weren't enjoying it, but they did it anyway.
Why doesn't he help with real rescues, charities and the like? Could it be because he wouldn't make any money doing that?
 
Confess I have had a glass or two of vino this evening, but I've either seriously missunderstood or this misygenist (sp) pig has a problem because equestrianism allows women to compete on an equal footing to men.

Streugth, serious case of micro dick.
 
What a load of *******s!! i suggest someone makes a facebook page just as this group have done explaining what rubbish this is! ( i would do it but have no clue how to :o)
 
This really is a pile of sh!te. I can't believe that he thinks closing the slaughterhouses in America was a good idea. It isn't banned in Mexico, just over the border, so endless horses are trucked over the border into Mexico where they are slaughtered inhumanely. He has just pushed the problem away and made it worse.

I don't like using a bit anyway =/ I put one in my mouth once, gagged, chew it accidently and forgot I had fillings...

I look a bit like a hippie sometimes, walking around bareback with just a headcollar and two lead ropes xD

But, if riding was banned, there would be, basically a world massacre of horses.
 
I don't quite understand this - is he saying that its too cruel to ride your horse or use a headcollar or any form of tack on it (what about rugs?) but it is ok to train them using his 'secret' methods to do high school type movements?

So for what purpose are his horses being trained? I'm assuming its not for competition or any commercial reason as that would be far too cruel so why bother at all? Why not just return them all to their 'natural' state in the wild and see how long they last there?
