PF definitely has a broken tooth. Loose as well

She let me have a feel in her mouth today as she's much less sore, although she's still having a bit of trouble eating alfalfa. One molar is definitely chipped and it's noticeably loose. It's the first one on the left. I'm most worried

Have called vet who has yet to get back to me. What is the usual procedure? An x-ray, I assume? Would the tooth have to come out? What would the knock on effect be on the upper molars and subsequent dentistry?
Ideas, suggestions, reassurance and gentle pats on shoulder welcome.

disclaimer: For those quite rightly concerned that I might've grabbed her tongue and pulled it out of the side of the mouth, I didn't. I held her tongue gently IN her mouth and she was most obliging and tolerant of me having a poke around.
 
No great help I'm afraid but have gentle pats on the shoulder, for both PF and you, and to say that Flynn has a broken tooth. It doesn't seem to affect him most of the time but I used to be slightly wary of giving him really cold water to drink. However I stopped being such a wuss when I realised that his favourite thing is cold water straight out of the hose

Sorry to hear that!

Can't offer much advice other that I have a pony with a missing tooth and all we have to do is make sure he gets his teeth done every 6 months rather than every year so that the top tooth does not get too overgrown. My vet said that larger gaps are usually better as they don't get food stuck in them so it may not be as bad as it looks at the moment!
 
its is possibly a slab fracture so only that part of the tooth needs to come out,if it the whole tooth it will depending on what they think have to come out if it is finger loose,she will have trouble eating as it is going to hurt her.she will need ongoing dentistry if the whole tooth comes out because of the overgrowth from the opposing tooth,either way really she will still need ongoing treatment at least every 6 months.

I hope so!
Collarbone is better, thanks, it hurts a lot less and I have more movement in my arm. No chance of doing any mucking out yet though!!
