Considering I haven't ridden PF all week because I've been ill and only managed to lunge her a bit yesterday, I was prepared for some 'extreme' hacking. Hacking, you see, is the most exciting of activities for PF, providing almost unlimited spooking opportunities. On the way from the yard itself to the main gate she was angelic until the last moment when she realised she'd wasted a full 10 minutes on being well-behaved and she spooked at her shadow.
We crossed a busy main road with no incident. The large lorry that rattled and rumbled past didn't bother her in the least, nor did 2 drooling, snarling (well, not snarling, but definitely barking) dogs, but there were several VERY scary and completely motionless rocks that were even scarier if they cast a shadow. Anyhoo, she really was a very good girl and we arrived without incident at the yard where she wasted NO time at all in flirting with a grey pony who had been turned out in the small school and then struck a supermodel-like pose with her ears pricked and nostrils flared in front of the stable building, so everyone could admire her. She settled into her stable immediately with a roll and a poo and then said hello to the horse next door, who, disappointingly was a mare.
Grooms came over to admire her, and one of them asked if she was a filly. Erm... no not quite, BUT she is about 2 hands and 200 kg smaller and lighter than every other horse at the yard, so they can be excused for thinking so... And of course her beauty routine keeps her looking youthful

Oh my, the new yard is lush! But the old stables looked really homely... I wonder how much the airfare is to bring my big boy version of a PF out to jump in that ring!

Haven't you competed there before? Looks familiar?

All I can say is THAT is what I call a school, it is what I am used to and still cannot understand why the schools over here are so, so small!

I wish you MANY happy years there - just look at those jumps *sigh*

well done pf you actually went for it and wasnt talked out of it congrats i hope you are more happy and settled in new yard
hopefully yo wont be around to much to annoy you

WOW, PF I am now booking myself on a plane to you......that yard's school is superb!

I will give you a call when I am at the airport, for the pick up :P

Well spotted Weezy! Yes, I have competed there before when it was under different management. In fact, it was PF's first yard when she arrived, but back then they put her in a tiny box and 'forgot' to unrug her... didn't muck her out....
It's much better now someone else is in charge (and much more expensive!)
School is really very, very nice and the surface is wonderful. SO much better than old yard.

Right ho! )

A yard move is always a big deal, for some reason. Much bigger than moving house, I think. I hope both PF and you settle in really quickly.
I too love the pink arrows and the school!
