My horse has been coming in from the field and drinking a big water of water every day, concerned by this I started cleaning out the water every day still didn’t make a difference. I though it was the birds sitting on the fence s**ting in it so have put some electric tape. Still he didn’t seem to want to drink out of it. yesterday after work I went to get him in and I found the culprit. . . A big fat pheasant!! He was sat there just the thing sun bathing, does anyone have any tips how to scare him of?? thank u im not daft honest

Phesants (bless them) are so beautiful to look at but without meaning to sound horrible, they are the worst creatures on the earth. It seems everytime I go out for a ride at the moment they wait for me to ride passed (on my spooky horse) and then jump out of hedgerows skwaking and flapping. I have nearly died on a few occasions and my poor horse has difficulties getting over it too haha!!
They are gorgeous though so put the gun away haha!!

I'm having the same trouble as you at the moment fredthoroughbred, that and the bl---y collie dog that keeps leaping over the wall at us!

My horse spooky too, there is a collie dog too clever by far, plays games with us.... it comes around the house and runs to the gate jsut when we are closest and turning, horse nearly sat down on the floor the first time! Now she just bounces, sweats and jogs very high....

Re the pheasant, surely horse is not scared of an obvious bird right there in its face? maybe another bucket, so there are two for a while?

Cairo and Chancer have their own pet pheasant, he took up residence in the spring and has never left. He likes to drink their water and picks up any sunflower seeds left from their feed as well as the grass seeds from hay.

Chancer enjoys rounding him up occasionally, and they both have him wandering around picking up bits of feed when they are fed.

I do sometimes find a few feathers and occasional bird poo, so I just empty out the buckets and refill them.

Way I look at it is mine are never scared by birds taking off round them, and I now am used to having him living in my field. He is a very friendly and beautiful bird, and no doubt delicious

Good for them to have a bird training them out of the spookies! I also find plastic bags, glitter, noisy children on trampolines, chickens, tractors, etc all around the yard are good!
