I know he's been gone a few years now, but just wondered if anyone had a horse by him?

we have one who was a bit of an accident by all accounts - mare got in with him. 352 days later out popped Thomas (welsh D x hann). He's very much like his mum and looks like an overgrown welsh pony, but would love to know what other PP horses look like!

Will bump if up for you. My mare Izzy's dad is Inshallah 3 (sp not sure without looking) A stunner of a grey hanov stallion Sadly Im pretty sure hes no longer around now.

I'm really struggling to find anybody, and there's so little around about PP! really we'd like to know how much Tom takes after his sire, and how much after his mum. He does look like an overgrown welsh pony, but did PP only throw solid coloured foals or are they mostly coloured?

i know that it is a while since you posted your message regarding phillip pembroke, but i have only just read you posting as i am new to the forum.

however regarding phillip pembroke, i have a mare by him called calypso bay, she is a skewbald and is almost the spit of her dad to look at. i have a picture of phillip pembroke from his original leaflet advertising his as a stallion when he was based at sinnington manor, york.

should you like any more information then just let me know.

I have a 16.3h.h. skewbald gelding who is a grandson of Philip Pembroke. His markings are top notch, and he looks like a thorobred. He was shown in hand and ridden, and was jumping like a stag until he was injured in the field aged 7yrs, (fractured pedal bone). So now retired and just looking handsome in the field aged 14yrs. His sire was also called Philip (direct son of Philip Pembroke) he had more bone and was skewbald, but with a bit of black (not terribly good markings). He also had a full sister called Calisto Glow (but when sold on, the new owners re-named her to Miss Moneypenny I think), she was shewbald and not as big, made about 15.2 but did very well showing.

thanks CJSMUM... our Tom sounds like the exception then, as he's very much just (almost) black, no hint of being coloured!

He's 18 this year and has side bone and spavins which he developed as a 6yo (vet thinks he should only have been 15hh, but he grew to 16.1 and thats caused these issues), but he's sounds and having had a few easy years while my sister was at Uni, he's going to be brought back into proper full time work again and see if we can get him properly fit for a few days hunting this season!
this is him last summer!

Tom looks a honey! He also has the definite strong handsome face that CJ has (even though CJ is coloured). If possible I will download a photo of CJ just for interests sake. (CJ short for Caernarfon Jester, which he is registered with at CHAPS). Good Luck with Tom, Regards, Juliehttp://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I know this is a long time - have just done search for PP , and found this!
he was our stallion - much loved and much missed. He was 15.3.
We bought a brood mare in 1988- a fine boned chestnut and white skewbald- Willow Sharn VII,15.1[ unknown breeding but we regd her as Wetherbys NTR]. At foot she had a 4 month old foal by Louella Eisanfarn[ Hann]- he d never been handled , and mare a bit wild too!
However, he grew so nicely and the perfect temperament , that we kept him entire. We had young chidren then , and no way were we looking for a stallion! However, he started winning everything in the showring and people wanted to use him as a stallion , so thats what we did.
He was the most wonderful horse - a true friend to the whole family. We graded him with BSPA and CHaps ,showed him , OH hunted him , did teamchases, dressage etc etc and we all rode him out - in mixed company. We kept a scrap book of all the foals he sired for visiting mares , and considering he wasnt overly promoted , did very well siring a top eventer and a HOYS section winner.
We kept his mum and had another 9 foals off her - she was a great mum , and taught the foals manners.
Unfortunately, aged 12 , and hunting fit he succombed to laminitis [ due to growth on heart vet thought], and we still still miss him. He was my OH s horse of a lifetime.
If OP would like piccies , send pm and email address and I ll gladly send some through. Over the years we still get people telling us how they have had a lovely horse by him, and its always nice to hear of more .

hello Cornbrodolly! thank you for replying to this!! Its so lovely to hear what he was really like!

Tom is now 19, and all I can remember about his mum is that she was a welsh section D (his passport is up at my parents, where he's kept!), and that he's very similar in shape to her, albeit a bit bigger.

I'd love a couple of pics if possible, to add to his little folder/scrap book! I'll try to remember to scan the pics of his mum in to show you too!

Have a look here at Poppet Plume, has a few foals sired by Philip Pembroke so contact them :) http://jemoonstud.terapad.com/index.cfm?fa=contentGeneric.ksnjosuxgolyroov

DESCRIPTION

Poppet Plume came to Jemoon Stud as a gift and she has proved to be an excellent and reliable breeder for us. We are told she ran on the flat before coming to the paddocks. She has now retired from breeding. She has bred a coloured foal each time a coloured stallion has been used. Before coming to us she had bred coloured foals by Philip Pembroke, Northern Lullaby Blue and Stanhopes Odwig.

cornbrodolly I remember your OH winning the Chaps Champs at Malvern 3 counties way back I think In 1991 I was there with a whole bunch of horses he was a stunning horse and so well deserved to win, we also came up to North yorks to a Championship show and again I saw him it could well have been your place similar time I think I was Heather Davies then Chaps PR

angrovestud
- I remember meeting you at Malvern! We were first generation coloured fanatics/breeders,show-ers!It was a long journey from Yorks with PP and old Toby Twirl, you were from Cheshire then- and I can even remember your horse - but not her name?
We re not showing much now - OH doing dressage [ Medium] with a coloured . We watched Royal Windsor coloured classes - mostly pros with the rosettes, not that they would have been seen at the shows in the early years!
Stud days over - have downsized and gone bck to dear old Sheriff Hutton.

JEN-I cant post photos here - have no photobucket[?!] but pm me and Ill email pics. There may be 1 on our website under 'past horses' all the w s naturalhorstrainer.co.uk

I know this was posted in 2010 but I've just done a search for Philip Pembroke simply because I lost my most beautiful horse on Sunday.
Sirius he was Philips and my mare Magpie's son who has also passed away. Sirius was born on 26th May 1992 and died aged 22. He was skewbald with a huge star & perfect eyes you never saw the whites. He was 16.2 had 7ft rugs but he was a gentle giant, he had liver & kidney problems 8 years ago. He was trotting around Saturday night with me then laid down in pain Sunday. Unfortunately his kidney had failed. & I had to make a horrible decision. I absolutely adore him he was so gentle. Traits from both sides were in him & I'm very thankful to have had him.

Later than late but just doing a search on my old boy's breeding and this thread came up. His sire is Phillip Pembroke (Sire Louella Eisenfarn, Dam Willow Sharn VII) and his Dam is Bella (no further info) so I wonder if anyone knows him? Cornbrodolly perhaps? He's called Mista Boo, he's 22y.o. 16hh dark bay gelding with a white patch between his eyes. Bred by a lady in Helmsley, N Yorkshire. He has only been with us 2 years but we adore him. It would be lovely to hear from anyone who knows him.
