Can't believe nobody has posted about his fabulous win last night!(and if they did, sorry, but I didn't see it...)
What classy riding,4 completely different horses, that he made look so,so easy!
I'm so pleased he won,I have ridden against him many times, and he is always friendly and helpful, always ready with useful advice and common sense.
No,he didn't win thousands of pounds, but this win will mean that for the next 4 years,he has the right to ride at any competition,in any Grand Prix in the world. How cool is that?
Hello Global Tour!!!!
Bl**dy well done Philippe,you deserve it. X

Hi, I didn't know until lunchtime, as it was on British Eurosport at that time, and I wanted to watch it without knowing the result beforehand. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a well-deserved medal, that's for sure. He is a really nice, unassuming man, and always comes to the National Jumping Vivat we hold every June at our yard, because it is at a military stables where he did his National Service many moons ago. I felt quite emotional watching the medal ceremony and listening to the Brabançonne (don't get to do that very often!!!)
Whereabouts in Belgium are you?

I have to admit that I got rather emotional watching him win gold. What a talented rider and a lovely person. His acknowledging the horses as much was also wonderful to see. :D

Well done Philippe - you truly deserved it!!

Also, who won best horse? My money is on Hickstead. He was fantastic too. :)

Great contest, superb classes, WEG has been fantastic, esp the jumping.
Rivetted to FEI tv, thanks Steve Hadley , you did a great job!
The result could have gone any way in the end, it was that close, sad that Rodrigo was fourth, maybe there could have been something for him on the rostrum?
Anyway, four deserving combinations, wonderful to watch all week, stunning horses, I am thinking Presley Boy and a lot of others. The Saudis et al and the Japanese, all up at world level. (I fear for the Brits, thats another thread!)
Wow, I am still in showjumping heaven cant you tell!
Follow that.......

Yes, he was the only horse on 0 for all four. So a reasonably good Canadian day ;), especially since apparently Eric is still pretty lame.

It's such a long week for those horses, jumping huge tracks then swapping off at the end. Really a test of talent and training.

Phillipes horse was very impressive from the word go. He jumped out of his skin all week and Phillipe rode so well - a very deserving winner.

It's SO close now though, isn't it? The fact that every can ride everyone's horses so competitively now really shows what a deep pool it is and how close to perfection the winner has to be on the day.
