Hello, hope you're all having a good day!

I'm an amateur photographer, no dog at the moment but hopefully one day! I follow several dog event groups on Facebook for my area and I've been wondering whether I could get go to some of these events (not with a dog, but just to photograph people and their dogs).

As you're all dog owners, maybe some of you go to these type events (like organised walks or doga), so would you be interested/comfortable if a photographer were to come along to a couple and take photos? All photos would be posted on my facebook so anyone who attended would be able to access any pictures taken of them or their pup :) (Mainly their pup!)

Or would me being there make people uncomfortable because they'd prefer to just be walking with their dogs rather than having to feel self-consious because there's a photographer around?

All opinions respected and greatly appreciated xx

I love having pics of my dog and we do get people coming to events and training to take pics quite often as it makes for nice action shots. All you can do is ask. I do encourage people to always credit the photographer and buy some prints.

...sorry, I'm still stuck on 'doga'.

Tell me that's not actually a thing. :p

If you've asked permission from the event organiser then it should be fine, most people are very grateful for pics, I've had some cracking action shots over the years. Are you planning to charge for prints?

Doga is most definitely a thing and apparently growing in popularity!

Okay, thank you. As I'm still learning about photography, I'm just planning on posting the photos so people can contact me for a digital copy of the photo (for free) and am currently unable to make prints.

I thought I did weird things with dogs, doga is a step beyond. :p

The amateur photographer at our agility club doesn't charge for FB pics but instead asks for donations in a charity bucket, he raises a couple of hundred quid every season and we get him a little something for his trouble also.
