Photos of William Curtis?

Hello everyone, this is my first post here.

I have been trying for some time now to find a photo of the sire to my mare (also the sire to Oliver Townend's Flint Curtis), a William Curtis. According to Sportshorse Data's website, he was a grey, born in 1976 to Garnered and Blue Flint, owned by Edward & Robert Nicholson, bred by M.I. Powell and sometimes known as William Curtis VII.

After trawling the internet, I can find very little information on him. All image searches throw back pictures of Oli on Flint Curtis and web searches usually just pick up the name in connection with Flint too. I have found a New Zealand based page from 2006 that talks about him 'no longer being with us' and H&H forum member 'SJFAN' mentioned in a post from 2009 watching William Curtis jump at HOYS (see post #18 here: http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?265206-Oli/page2). I have tried to send SJFAN a PM but they haven't been active since 2011 and consequently their message box is full :(

So a bit of detective work for you ;) As well as a photo, any information on William Curtis would be very welcome.

That's correct, dianchi. William Curtis has a number of well-known offspring but I was surprised to learn there's little about him on the internet.

Sb2, I'll check that out now -hopefully I'll have some luck. I don't suppose you know anymore about him, do you?
 
All I remember is that he was grey& very good looking!
In the early 2000's there were numerous horses eventing with the Curtis prefix- seems to have died out now

He did have a stallion son that was weirdly line bred to both his father& mother- there was something odd about his conception can't remember what!

Thanks again for that Sb2. Yes, there were quite a few "Curtis'" at one point. I'm just amazed that (from what I've read at least), a well-known sire doesn't seem to have a single photo. There are even drawings of horses that are recorded on lineage and breeding sites going back to at least the 1700s, but nothing of one that was around from between 1976 to the late-90s/early 2000s. This is a horse that, as I understand, jumped at HOYS and gave the world Flint Curtis!
 
The stud used line breeding massively, I think but could well be wrong that Flint Curtis was also very inbred.
 
You could contact the Nicholsons as they still have (or did have) at least one of his offspring. I guess if you went via BE they may be able to pass on a message on your behalf. Good luck!
 
The reason you will not see a lot about him is because he was used exclusively at home on their own mares I believe.As far as I know all their horses have the Curtis affix to their names irrespective of how they are bred.
