Last October my daughter's 6 y/o Anglo Arab mare suffered a deep traumatic injury to her off hind fetlock, we rushed her to the clinic and she underwent surgery to sew it up but on closer inspection they found she had hit the bone AND made a tear in her tendon sheath, infection had already set in..the vet actually asked if we wanted to continue. Having already lost her father to Glioblastoma I was not going to kill my daughter's best friend- we chose to save her life and to cut a long story short she is now home after two surgeries, 5 weeks of intensive care (we named it intensive 'mare) and a couple of months of regular laser therapy and physio at a rehab farm. And a big insurance claim against the yard where it took place. What I want to know is has anyone out there any experience with deep cuts healing in tight areas- her fetlock was basically exploded open - so now it's a bit swollen and deformed - we have exercises to help break down the scar tissue & to make it more mobile but I'm open to more ideas. The vets are cautious because they literally have no experience of something like this; she's pretty sound on the leg, they couldn't find any tendon damage in the ultrasound. This is all in France, the deep dark SW part so there's horse massage therapists, osteopaths, healers & whisperers aplenty.
