I have finally managed to get my youngster an appointment with a physio shes coming tomorrow. Since he had his teeth done he has been alot better but he should be going better than he is. After a long conversation with the physio she thinks his problem stems from his teeth hurting and him compensating. I was amazed how many different muscle groups it can effect, rather than the obvious ones.

She thinks he is hurting without doubt and tomorrow I will hopefully know where. More money but definately worth it. Maybe we will be doing our first intro before August (personal goal)

Anyone had similar problem Id really like to hear? He had a snapped wolf tooth and very sharp teeth one side. Especially anyone who had teeth problems leading to muscle problems.

Thanks

sort of, but not quite the same senario. my boy had his teeth checked and rasped, and then after that he was slightly reluctant to open his mouth when putting the bridle on. had a mctimoney lady out, not due to this, but because of slight tensions through back etc, and she said that his jaw was slightly misaligned and there was alot of tension in the muscles, due to , she thought, the gag when the dentist came. she thought that the gag and the opening of the mouth to an unnaturally wide angle, had caussed some problems.
not the same as you, but i had never heard of even thought of this, so thought it was quite an intersting point

Well she has said it is very common and alot of people are unaware of how teeth can effect other parts of the body especially muscle groups. She said if a horse is avoiding the contact or is in pain they will move differently or not as they should be and also tense up. She thinks that he probably hurts in the muscles in his neck from his jaw and in his lumbar. This is without looking though but she said its so so common.

Thats why they reccomend you get both checked even if you have had teeth done you might still need some tweeking.

I will post the out come thursday as I bet there are others that will benefit.

He isnt lame just tight in his hips and back and only on the rein which was the same side his teeth were the problem.
