ive had my horse for 10 months now and have had physio out to her every 3 weeks since at £70 each time!!!!

last week was the last time they came out, she had been getting better but the treatments seemed to ware off after about a week.

her physio lady said that she will come back in 6 months, if shes sore before then then i should get the vet out as theres not much more she can do.

i simply just dont have the money at the minute and as you've probably guessed - shes sore again!!

i massage her daily, hot water bottle daily, stretches daily, but nothing seems to help. is there actually anything else i can do or is vet the only option?

:(

i have no idea :(

and because if i didnt then she'd probably be in a lot of pain. its mostly behind the saddle area on the right side. nothing seems to help it at all.

Physio every 3 weeks??????????????????????

I suggest you get the vet out and get him to do flexion tests, nerve blocks etc, it will be money better spent, something is obviously not right.

Have you had your saddle checked?

well more or less yeah!
i have £40 to my name but that wont get me anywhere will it?! ive just got another job (dedication?!?!?!) which i start in a few weeks and will save every penny.
saddle has been checked 3 times (only had it 2 months!) and was made to measure so fits her perfectly.

You say every 3 weeks it could be one of her ovaries, when she comes into season. I'd give her a lay off until you can afford to get the vet out and take it from there, as she is insured

its only every 3 weeks cause thats all i could afford so not sure its that.
she turns into a fruit loop if not exercised :( lungeing without saddle will be okay until i can get the vet right? thanks for the advice guys

When the physio first came out, did they just call your vets to get permission or did the vet come out first and then refer to the physio? To be honest the physio should have referred you back to your vet a long time ago seen as you've had 10 months of treatment with no improvement and £70 a pop too, very expensive as you're no doubt aware!

i phoned the vets to get a referral as id read that they have to come through your vets. i thought the same thing! changed physios after about 7 months as no improvement (they are good at making believe think they can fix it!!!) and this most recent one had a go at fixing her but after the 3rd lot of treatment decided that there was nothing more she could do and told me to get vets involved!

at least now i know its nothing physio's can improve, just wish id learnt that 9 months ago!! haha

your insurance should pay out for physio treatment. As long as the physio is from a refferal from the vet. However it seems a bit after the event now.

My physio who was reffered to me by my horses vet , told me i could claim for work on my insurance. She would also work closely with the vet. I am sure by now your vet should of been involved and investigations done sooner?

I have to say I think you've been taken for a bit of a ride by the first physio - sorry. It's one thing if the vet had come out first, diagnosed and then said it could take months of physio treatment but the physio clearly took it upon themselves to continue treating something for several months that had never been diagnosed and that is really bad practice on their part. I would mention this to your vet, I don't think they should be referring to this person anymore! Bets of luck though, hope you get it sorted

well unfortunately it wasnt a proper referral, i just phoned the vets, explained the problem and he suggested some physios to use.
just checked the insurance policy, have to pay the first £130 and the rest is covered.
had a long chat with my mum and she said she will lend me some money to get the vet out :D
hopefully its nothing serious! :(

Physio was very bad not to tell you to refer - if there is no improvement after 3 sessions then really they should tell you to call the vet.

I would be careful about what you tel vet - if you say that this happened 9 months ago, you might find that your insurance will only cover treatment for another 3 months.
