Physios

Okay., so i posted a majorly long post in the vet and NAGS forums about ACPAT and NAVP, just wondering what qualification your physios are, if you know? Do you find it important/check? Woudl you use non ACPAT (therefore not having human qualifications first, but still fully qualified for animal physio) physios? Do you think not being human qualified would make a major difference to business, would a lot of clientelle refuse me? would vets refuse me?

i think it makes a huge difference if you are not human qualified first. the human degree enable you to be a chartered physiotherapist at BSC(Hons) level. i think it would make big difference to you clinical reasoning and understanding to have the human degree first as these are skills you learn during the human stuff. it takes a long time to develope these skills. You would also have a greater understanding of what you are dealing with when treating a horse.
it is just unfortunate that the names animal and vet physio are not protected. Physiotherapist is protected so you can only call yourself a physio if you are one!!
Personally I would never use a non ACPAT physio!
