Pic of my little orphaned man, comments please and advice on colour

Ok couldnt resist, perhaps someone could advise wat my foal will turn out as as very confused on colour lol.

Out of a black leopardspot knabstrupper X F.I Pleasure> white with bluish/dapple grey patched stallion (classed as roan) and i end up with a chestnut/bay foal. i say chestnut/bay because his body is light bay with black mane and tail however his legs are pale chestnut and one white sock. However in some light they have a greyish tinge to them with pale cream under his belly and muzzle. dont know wat he is going to turn out like but im guessing no spots shame really because i wanted him to look more like his mom as we unfortunately had to have her put down 2 weeks after she foaled

(even wondered if there could have been a mix up with straws as mare was A.I'd lol)

Still having problems with getting milk down him but instead of making into a liquid, i have made it into a paste instead and mixing it in with the creep pellets/milk pellets which he seems to like best. Pic was taken yesterday so i hope you agree he isnt looking too bad after his ordeal with losing his mom (he is a month old now)

I thought perhaps bay too but was perplexed by him not having 'Black points' on legs so wondered if he would change. Someone did say it was possible to change to grey however i doubt he will considering he has one rather prominent white sock

What a gorgeous little chap and ditto what everyone else has said, he is looking superb and you are doing a wonderful job.

I think he will go bay, and as Cruiseline has said, the black points could likely come in as he sheds his foalie coat.

Well done though, he is looking perfect...

Poor little chap but he is looking good after a bad start and if he prefers porridge to milk why not!

As above coat colours in foals can be very deceptive, you just have to wait and see what shade he will be, but bay/brown he is.

Difficult to tell from the picture but he does look like he did not inherit any spotted coloring. What you would need for him to have any prospect of colouring out at a later date is some mottled skin, best places are around the genitals and under the tail, he doesn't appear to have any on the nose or face. I can't quite see if he had stripy feet or white sclera round the eyes, but it's the mottled skin that is the most important.

Does he have any white patches, odd white hairs (especially around the hind quarters, or between the legs on the chest)?You will also get a clue as when he begins the foal moult around the eyes you will see some white hairs if he is going to colour out.

What colour was his mum? Base colour genes would be at least one gene for black "E" plus one bay or brown gene "A", which if the father was black would have had to come from his mother so he would be "A" or "At" and one "a" from father.

So he is black "E" and either "E" another black or "e" chestnut then "A" bay/brown with "a" carrying if you like black
 
well what ever he's getting he is doing well on it. Well done you should be really proud of yourself!
 
My vote is that he will turn grey - he has alot of grey hairs on the underside of his tail, by the time he is a yearling you will start to see him turn
