Pick a saddle, any saddle!

Thanks everyone you have given me a lot to think about which is great! Andrea hicks is in my area so I mig give her a ring.

As a side note, I'm a little unsure why people are concerned that I'm asking what saddles people recommend, isn't that what people do? Or else how do you know which ones to try? Anyway rest assured horses will only have well fitting well made saddles :)

Lots of recommendations in one thread! I'd definitely lean towards sticking with more solution saddles, as you know that they suit the horses that you have and can be adjusted to fit new ones as well. Plus you say that you find them comfy! I'm another who is envious of your shopping spree with someone elses money.

I'm definitely a convert to Solution Saddles. I have just upgraded to the new Smart V15 and love it. All the horses are happy in it - and I've got a real mixed bunch with every back shape imaginable. Would thoroughly recommend you test ride this new version if you are using older models. I got a "special deal" (sshhhh!) because I was a returning customer...I know you don't have a budget, but even so, that's got to be worth a try!

Some saddle fitters sells several brands (can be Albion, Ideal, etc...) so you an ask them to come with an assortment and try them on, that's how people do generally.

Lucky you. I'd have another Solution, nothing else is as good..
You could try a different model if you don't have the latest gp. Or tweak the design a bit, suede seat for workers, different colour for the friesian. They are so good for those hard to fit types you describe, and so supportive and comfortable for horse and rider. Happy shopping! : )

At least you mentioned what shape your horses are! I fit for AH Saddles and probably am your local fitter, happy to answer any questions. As you may have seen we used to be half of Native Pony Saddle Company, Andrea designed those saddles, and now have our own independent company. Several brands mentioned on here that I'd not put on a wide backed horse - some have too upright rails/bars even if the tree is flat and some are too curvy even if they are super wide. Not all cobs and natives actually need super wide but they do usually needd at least fairly flat, even if they have some wither having a flat spot at the bottom of the seat, with the rails against the horse correspondingly flat, gives a stable fit with room for the horse to lift their back.
