We are collecting an 8 year old female Rottie from a rescue today. Max has been so sad by himself. He has never been an only dog before. Let’s hope she cheers him up! Everyone seems to want to rescue the younger dogs but not so much the older ones. Photos to follow if all goes well. These photos are of poor Maxi all alone. ?

Ooh, lovely! The OH and I were just saying we’re going to rescue older dogs when we no longer have the werewolf. They need lovely homes. I hope she gets on with your current lad and he loves her.

There was a 14 year old Rott up for adoption fairly recently & I was severely tempted! My old boy made it to 12 years 2 months & was quite doddery, so I was under no illusion that it would be days/weeks with a 14 yo, but he looked like my old boy...! The only thing that put me off was that it was RSPCA so he would probably have been deceased by the time that we had fought our way thru home check, paperwork, more paperwork etc.

Ohhhhh, don't tell me that...! I want him/her now...!

ETA...cross posted...I now see that she is a 'her'. Poor girlie! My old boy was v old & doddery, but we literally limped onwards until his digestion packed in. He used to walk purposefully after his ball when he couldn't run any more! But he still enjoyed it.

But, if there was anyone not a million miles away who could offer her a home.... ??

I'm so glad that they are settling down so well together.

How could any-one abandon a 12 yr old dog? Least of all a 12 yr old Rottie? I wish ours had lived to be 12!
