Well I kept up the rear in both of my classes

Open dog winner, a total stunner and unlucky not to go Best Dog.

This female is truly dual purpose, she passed her BH last week (Begelithund - traffic-safe companion dog) has all her KC Good Citizen
degrees and has won several beginners' obedience stakes.

And the last word goes to my charges today:
Best Cutesy-Face and Lead Killer goes to:

And I love this fella, he never stands still for more than a few seconds, was his first show, was only just the right age for his class, all he wanted to do was leap about today, so he gets the award for biggest, silliest, Best Kangaroo Impersonator!
(He WILL own the ring in a few months time!)

Stupid question alert, but why are you all wearing orange tabbard things? Never seen those before?

And thank GOD I have only ever shown normal dogs (straight up and down, do a triangle) all that gaiting looks like well hard work

It's for when they all put their roller skates on, gives innocent bystanders the chance to dive out of the way of the ballistic GSD handlers
grin.gif

Thanks guys!

The tabbard has a perspex pocket at the front and the back and you just slip the ring number in - saves fannying about with card clips, which most people always lose or forget anyway!
Means if you are handling loads of dogs you can hang onto the vest all day and just change the numbers.

They both want me to handle for them again so I can't have cocked up that much!

LMAO

I was confused (not difficult I know
blush.gif
) as most "normal" dog exhibitors just have a natty little clip to display their card with their number on
confused.gif
Trust GSD exhibitors to be different
grin.gif

Oh like a number bib for eventing? Hmmm, well, as I said - trust GSD people to want to do things differently

Thats fab that they want you to do it again, get out there and start doing your marathons in preparation

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be!

Frodo, PG is for dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more firsts at Championship shows in PG, limit or open classes (the main adult classes - before that is minor puppy, puppy, junior, special yearling.)

Beautiful pics!

What is 'post-graduate bitch'?! I'm totally clueless re. dog showing. Just makes me think of a particularly nasty PhD student

Its just the way they categorise the classes FB - divided into dogs and bitches, then you move up according to the age of the dog and what it has won. There are humungous amounts of classes they can put on...

Minor Puppy - 6-9 months
Puppy - 9 - 12 months
Junior - 12-18 months
Maiden - never has won a first prize
Graduate - cannot have won more than X 1st prizes
Post Graduate - as above, but more 1sts are acceptable!
Limit - as above!
Open - anyone can enter, usually the top champions etc

There are other classes too, just cant remember them now
grin.gif
There is status/prestige in winning some classes more than others - the higher up you get, the better the win usually

Thanks for posting those CC, I like the "dual purpose" sable bitch. That young pup looks as if he will take a while to mature, but like the type, looks as if he is going to be topsize (being tactful here) though
grin.gif
.

I *may* have kept his owner going that he will eventually end up in the Great Dane classes
tongue.gif

How and ever, he was actually the smallest in the class (I am a midget
blush.gif
) and the winner was top size already!

It's too faffy, I used to have one and I lost it all the time, and the cards would go flying once we put any speed on
tongue.gif

Yes, Buzz is a sweetie, I won't tell you about his critique because it will make steam come out of my ears!!!

Re the number bibs, quite a few GSD clubs use them with the numbers already printed on (they are supplied by a well known dog food manufacturer and GSD exhibitor, and I think there is a small hire fee). Bit of a faff handing them out and particularly getting them back at the end of the day, but I suppose they are greener than ordinary ring numbers, and also easier to see across a huge GSD ring
grin.gif

And a jolly good food it is too
tongue.gif

Yes, we have just been sent a job lot from our parent club with numbers pre-printed, as we have agreed, perhaps due to insanity
tongue.gif
to host another big event in the new year!
