pics of horrible fall

Because obviously people want to look at them otherwise this thread would not have been started its a bit like rubber necking at an accident.I wonder if anybody thought to ask the rider if they minded these being brought to the attention of people on this forum or indeed OKd the publication with the photographer. It may be a good idea to delete the link before it becomes a copy write issue.

It shouldn't be a copyright issue, seeing as no pictures have been posted on here. The link takes you to the photographers site.

Thank goodness horse and rider are ok, what a horrible fall!

Glad their OK. I am not sure its such a great Idea to post links like this as there are copyright issues involved and also the person involved ought to be asked first for such a public airing.Sorry thats just a personal view !!!

That is horrific. the angle of that poor horses legs were at has made me feel sick :(

ditto. What an absolutly horrible fall! Thank goodness both are ok. Am so glad both horse and rider escaped unscathed. Hope ur both back in action again soon.

Ohhh - that takes a real professional to carry on shooting a sequence like that - i know it may seem wrong - but he/she is doing what he/she is paid for.

Really hope the horse and rider are ok

I think its an automatic shot - you press it once and it take a sequence of photos.

TBH I think they should be taken off the photographers website I hope to god they are both ok and if not I hope the rider never sees them.

That's horrific. Does anyone know the rider/horse and if they were ok?

Why do photographers put pictures of bad falls on their websites? Surely no one wants to buy them or do they?

Hi, as a photographer who attends many events on a freelance basis, if I get such a shot I don`t publish it or offer it anywhere(ever) other than to the rider/owner of the horse involved, if they express they are happy for the image to be seen then that is ok but only with their express permission! I keep it on my files for these reasons only.
Personally I hate to see a horse fall, injury to any rider or horse is not what I am about and I think many photographers actually feel the same.
Best Regards
Tony

i totally understand this view, but i can't help thinking that perhaps we can sometimes learn from sequences of pics such as this. i'm a bit fanatical about the safety angle of xc and studying pics like this can be informative imho.
i also think details (e.g. fence judge reports) of serious horse falls should be published, so we can all learn from them.

Agreed.

Hawk123 I am very glad you and your horse are okay :)

Very glad to hear both horse and rider are ok, that sequence made me feel quite sick and i have a stomach of iron! Hope the bruises and bumps heal quickly!

Agree with Kerilli that these things shouldn't be hidden, we all learn from our mistakes and others, and the more we can learn the safer we will be.

I think I know who it was. I was giving a lesson to my 'groom' who brought her beast along to have a little party at Floors (I was meant to be doing the Intermediate but pony went lame before showjumping). They were held for quite a while, but both were up on their feet which is the main thing!

Wow, that was some fall - so glad you are both ok. Horses are strange things, can do the most horredous looking falls, and come away with superficial wounds, then trip and break something vital - like us I suppose. Sending some arnica your way - for both of you :)

How do we know that they haven't been asked?

Was at that fence - had watched quite a few and had just decided to move on when we heard the horse hit the fence. Turned round to see the rider go flying over the fence and horse land in the ditch. Amazingly horse got out quickly and just stood, very quiet. Someone else caught him - think he was very sore but there were no obvious injuries. So glad to hear they were both ok - it was a crashing fall. Medics and ambulance arrived very quickly and rider was sitting up.

We saw a lot of near misses there - the horses would just see the ditch at the last second and it was making for a few sticky jumps. One horse really clattered it with it's stifle. What made it worse was you had a very similar fence to jump straight away back over the same ditch.

Agree that the photos need to be seen - if it was me i wouldn't be offended that they were available for all to see.
