Hi all,

I wanted some views on my mare's feet, following on from posting them in my earlier thread on her being diagnosed with navicular syndrome in December. http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/foru...56-Navicular-syndrome-any-thoughts-on-my-mare All history / details on that thread.

I thought I would re-post them in case they got buried in that thread.

Video of her moving in the school this afternoon - I'm happy that she is sound in all three paces on both reins on the circle.

These pics are from the this afternoon:

I don't think they look too bad, but I'm guessing we want to see the heel grow down?

She is landing heel first.

If she is landing heel first, then keep doing whatever you are doing :)

Not sure what you meant by wanting the heel to 'grow down' , but for a picture book barefoot hoof I'd like to see more frog and less hoof at the heel. However, the foot clearly isn't ready for that yet. From the photo, it looks like the sole is quite shallow at the front half at the moment, and the wall is a little thin. So chopping hoof off at the heel would probably cause lameness.

Definitely chase that thrush, keep her moving (comfortably) as much as possible, and I am sure she will continue making great progress:)
