Since Jack is away on his summer holidays, a friend very kindly offered me her lovely but firey chestnut mare to compete for a day.
We had a pretty uneventful hack there, but warming up consisted of her conversing with her fieldmate who was supposed to be concentrating on her own test ;) And spooking at the camera;

Inbetween her screams of loneliness and terror of being abandoned with the evil me, she was lovely to ride (mainly when being ridden towards her compainion, of course ;) )

And then it was test time. Aside from a couple of bouts of accidental canter (which ironically occured when we were supposed to be walking and definitely down to my faulty aids!) she went lovely! We placed seventh and had an excellent day.:D

(spooking at the pro photographer..)

(nothing better than pausing mid test to admire the scenery :eek: )

Thank you for reading, and if you are my friend, thank you for lending me your lovely horse!

Sorry pressed post to quickly and am on my phone so can't edit! I always think that whenever I ride a horse I'm not used to or indeed isn't used to me, I learn so much about unconscious habits I have that my horse has just adapted to over time! I think that's the one downfall of having your own horse is that you lose the exposure of having many different rides..

Yes you're right! When Jack was in work, I went for almost three years without so much as sitting on another horse, and riding so many others this year has really improved my seat and stopped me from riding so defensively (probably leading to me going splat when I get back on my own horse :rolleyes:) Also that my walk aids mean canter, apparently :eek:

Haha, it was. Thank you, I wonder how much insurance would be for that :eek: (eta not because you have a naughty horse, of course!)
