Pictures of Totilas yard

My yard looks like that.....if you take away the concrete, stables, buildings, electricity, lighting, facilities, fancy horses and add some grass and a one-eyed pony :D

Lovely yard, now just picture a hairy coblet running across the front!! Fits in perfect with it, or even a shetland!

Just think having that as your yard my horse would have to live somwhere else incase he messed it up!!:D

Lovely yard... but I do know that on the continent, there are quite a few mega posh yards!!!

Where I grew up, one of the main yards looks stunning (i.e. more country club than livery yard), but I have to say a lot of people there take riding a lot more seriously as well. I have been to quite a few stud farms there where the stallions looked like pampered divas in their gilded stables, etc.

In terms of not seeing many horses on grass - I don't think they get much paddock time, to be honest. The insurance on expensive horses such as Totilas would be even higher than it is, if he had 24 hour turnout...

P.S.: Is Totilas available for breeding??????

How interesting! I have to say it does look a bit too clinical for my taste.

Are we sure EG does not turn out his horses? I was under the impression that Escapado was not happy without turn-out.

It's always nice to hear of big names with lovely horses who do turn them out. I seem to recall the Jean B mentioned that he turned all of his out when he came to the BD convention the second time round (other than the lovely stallion he brought over as his owner objected to turning out).

How could you go and give your horse her breakfast while wearing your PJ's and dressing gown in such a posh place? Admittedly it would be an upgrade on MY living standards never mind the neds :) Bit of a begger though if you had to dress up to go and lean on the stable door with your cuppa :)

I don't know whether it's just me thriving on being a mucky person but I like my yard (well it's not mine, per se) to be a horsey smelling place, with outdoorsy stuff hanging around and mud everywhere and mainly consisting of fields and tractors and things like that.

I wouldn't have a yard like that if I won the lottery tomorrow. Sure I would have a few more mod cons than I have now but not too laboratory like which I feel this yard is...

Oh well each to their own I guess. xx

wow!
but you know what.. apart from their menage, which is definitely much, much nicer than ours, we have everything they have - well, maybe our yard isn't as shiny, and we don't have the 'love room' or the solarium, but we do have fields!

I'm not envious - apart from of their menage!

Just because we didn't see fields doesn't mean there aren't any! I don't read the language but it's it just photos of the yard? But it is criminal, the too posh to turn out thing though.

As for carl hester, all his get turned out, one lives out 24/7 if I remember rightly and they all get hacked and I think a few are jumped too.

Oh I like the "tack piller" thing, good space saver when you need the wall!

I did a months work experience there when I was at college. Its a beautiful yard, with muriels (sp?) on the wall and golden ball things at the top of each box. The horses seemed very happy but they have a very different idea of horse care over there. Hardly any turnout at all and only mucked out twice a week. Things may have changed though, was about 7 years ago that I was there

I agree, there are some absolutely stunning yards (but truly stunning...much more luxurious than the one in the pictures), not even necessarily belonging to top international riders...

The most gorgeous yard I've ever seen is Aubenhausen (http://www.aubenhausen.de/das-ist-aubenhausen/die-reitanlage.html, home to Jessica & Benjamin Werndl), their website doesn't even do the place justice.

As for turnout I would say that at that level the people who do turn out are the exception rather than the rule...

I dream of a wash room.....that one looks fantastic!!! My only concrete floored area where I can wash mine has just been made into a stable, so I'm left with a dirt surface outside the barn from now on, I don't know how it will work but I can't see me getting any socks white for shows now! If only I had one like in these photos....aaaahhhhh how wonderful that would be! Looks like I'll just have to carry on dreaming......
