So, thanks to friends advice, have got Pidge on micronised linseed. Some days he eats all his breakfast, tea and mash, other days he's like 'meh' and just eats half. However, I am much happier with his weight now. Clipped him on Saturday as he was getting too hot, hate it as I love the colour of his coat this time of year, but his welfare comes first.
Pidge aged 27y 6m, and growing old disgracefully with me.

Linseed really does work for alot of horses I'm glad him doing good on it.
Had an amount from friend to try him on first as he is so fussy since going on pergolide. Touch wood he's eating it most days, fingers crossed and everything else! Hard work looking after him at times, but he deserves it.

He's looking good for his age!
They are hard work as they get older, aren't they? This is my Old Lady, also aged 27. I'm quite happy with her now, but she had me worried this spring when she lost 2 teeth and a lot of weight, seemingly overnight. A dentist visit and a lot of feeding has put her right for now.20240907_103532-1-1.jpg

Thank you. Yes, a lot of time and effort goes into looking after our oldies. She's looking good for her age too.

Thank you, she's my first oldie and I do worry about her. I can't even base what I see off her younger self as I only got her 2 years ago as a companion.
It's every horse owner who worries more when they get older. I can't count how many times I nip out mid afternoon to check on him when he's been lying down for a while in the sun..the relief when am ear twitches is unreal, and he then looks at me going 'you've interrupted my kip' lol
