So I got some ready mixed to try and help rid and prevent my lads mud fever.
We clipped the bottoms of his legs, washed in Manuka honey shampoo. Dried completely. Put some flamazine on the bits where the scabs were and covered in the pig oil and sulphur...
My question is what do I do now?
How often do I apply it?
Should I was the legs? (read somewhere every 2 weeks?)
Hes only out for a few hours a day, in a school, but it's very wet.

Whoever discovers 'the cure' for mud fever would be a very rich person!
I hope this works, he's only 8 and a half months old. Need to find something that works for him, otherwise I'll have a lifetime of this!

Ditto tobes, ensure the mud fever has fully healed, if necessary keep him in for a couple of days to keep them dry.

My pony has lots of feathers and depending how wet and muddy it is, I usually apply pig oil and sulphur every other day, in the morning before turning out. When he's brought in I don't hose his legs, I pick his feet out and I find by the morning most of the mud will have dropped off. Any that's left over I generally brush off before turning out. So far he's coped well over winter and hasn't had mud fever. He's been turned out virtually every day as well.

sorry, it's either flamazine OR pOS, not both together.

The sulphur in the pig oil is antibacterial and will kill the bugs, and so the POS is ok to use during a flare up - but ONLY if you have patch tested a healthy area first.

Mixing pig oil/sulphur and other chemicals (flamazine) doesn't sounds like a good plan on damaged skin. ???

I would also do a test to check he doesn't react to it. My friend was a vet and said she used to get a lot of horses that reacted to the pig oil and sulphur too.

I agree with the above, the skin has to dry out and heal, and then be given time to "harden up" again before they go back in the wet again.

We found a "cure" - we built a road planings turnout area and put them out on that all winter with hay! Other than that we tried all kinds of treatments and potions.
