I am trying to get Inkys mane a little thicker and longer and someone has suggested using pig oil on it. Has anyone ever used this, it sounds disgusting to me, what does it look like???? How do you use it???

It's a clear Oil - Looks like Baby Oil (but without the nice smell). I use it on my mares legs as a preventative to mudfever.

It isn't made from pigs, it's what they put on pigs to make them shiny when they show them.
I use it on legs to keep the mud off. Make the hair lovely and silky and the dry mud just falls off. Makes my hands nice too.
If you can't get any try pound shop baby oil but be careful with the perfume.

I use it with sulphur to prevent mites in my hairies - also good for mud fever. It is excellent as a dash in the final rinse water for a glossy coat. I also use a little on the nose and eyes - less sticky than baby oil. If I have run out of expensive glistening oil spray, it is also very good on manes and tails for showing and nearly as good.
Can also be used on mane and tails to have mud slip off, but I personally prefer to bag up my gypsy cob's mane and tail. I do put some on a cloth and wipe Chancer's white bits in winter to keep mud and stains from really taking hold in the coat.
What is better for mane condition are the wonderful products from tailgator - if you go onto their site you will see a wonderful mini with an amazing mane and tail. I use a lot of their products, I could not live without survivor and megatek now. I also developed and tested the mane bags with them.
If you do want pig oil, you can get it from some feed merchants, but for me I get mine from Heavy Horse Supplies as I get 25l at a time and it is the cheapest way of getting it.

I use pig oil on my horses manes and tails to stop mud sticking when they are turned out, but I dont know if it thickens

The cheapest way of getting Pig Oil is from your local mechanic! They will be able to buy it via their oil supplier, it is made by Millers Oils. Heavy horse peole who sell it simply decant it in to little bottles and put a mark up on it.
