I've heard it's fantastic for preventing mud fever and am going to be using this on one of ours this winter. Any idea where you get the sulphur from and what percentage of sulphur you add to the pig oil?
Hi
I bought the tub of sulphur from the location farmers/equine supplies, cost £7.50 for a large tub. Two cuppped handfuls to every 1 ltr of pig oil. Mix very well and keep in a container with a lid.
My boy has really sensitive skin on his legs, he has white legs and he had an allergy to his new tendon boots and they came up in small greasy/pussy type scabs and I used the pig oil and sulpher mix and it cleared it up in no time!
Haven't tried it on mud fever scabs yet, but I think it should work!
the pig oil sulphur mix is excellent. the oil waterproofs and protects the skin from the wet so helping prevent mud fever, do make sure you rub it in well though so that it doesnt just sit on the hairs. the sulphur supports the healing of any scrapes etc andis ,i think, a n anti bacterial too so helping in prevention and healing.
i've used the mix for years , always with good results.
