Pig oil

My pony came down with mud fever this winter for the first time in the 5 years i've had him, it's all cleared up now *touch wood* but now i just need to keep it that way and prevent it from coming back!
I've been using pig oil for when i hack him to stop the mud getting allover his legs, its exellant stuff and really does the job but its just a nightmare to get on! Skittles wont stand still while i try and get it on his legs and i end up with more of it on the stable floor than on his legs. I was just wondering if anyone had a better application method that just sloshing it on using plastic golves?

get a cheap paintbrush like a hoof oil brush and try that as its less messy for you and should hopefully mean more ending up on pony instead of the floor

Yep - I have an old supplement tub and large paint brush - just slap it on and rub it in. I don't bother with gloves - I think it actually makes my skin soft and the smell comes off with any handy shampoo we have around. Next day I wipe off any excess with some paper kitchen towel

Anyone who calls their pony skittles can't expect him to stand still!!!
