Pigs ears

I am starting to wish I had never posted an innocent thread about pigs ears

bulls penises. I buy the later in natural length, and cut them up with my largest pruning shears.

I have dissected a horse's penis, it stank to high heaven and was full of smegma, I would not, under any circumstances, have given it to the Dog to gnaw on!!

Regarding cost, pigs ears have been gong up and up in price, we are still selling at 50p each but I think the new stock will be more expensive. Other natural treats which we find sell much better than pigs ears are dried tripe sticks, they stink and the dogs adore them!, chopped up dried liver, revolting smelly, and the one I feed the most, paddywack. I think paddywack is back muscle from cattle (think lattisimuss dorsi (sp?)) dried to a flatish shape, sometimes still with a bit of chewyness to it but normally fairly brittle. I've never known a dog not like it, bear in mind I own a pet shop so I've sold a lot of it! You should be able to buy it in small bags although it's better cost wise to buy a 5kg box and hide it well!

I'm always a bit wary of paddywack, not so much for my Springer who will trough anything with no ill effects, but paddywack can be very hard and sharp, and I have had to take dangerous bits away from my Yorkie so I don't feed it any more.

Pigs ears are great, I have also had sheeps ears for the dogs.

Pigs snouts we haven't had, but when I was in France as a teenager my host family served me a delicacy and wouldn't tell me what it was until I had finished it....er, it was chewy!

I always feed mine Pigs ear...the real I AM ones, not the rubber looking things u get from Instores.....mine still have the ink on the ears, from the tatoo markings, I get a big box of 25 for £10 from the pet food wholesalers

, they sharp get used to digesting them without the sh!ts when fed frequently.

I do not give any treats, except, dental sticks/jumbone/pigs ears......esp whe leaving them when I go out, or a kong, filled with goodies.

DO NOT, feed cooked pigs trotters, have seen many a dog break them into pieces and have to have surgery to remove the bones, as they crumble apart when chewed up, and some parts swallowed whole, pigs ears are much better.

Just a word of warning, If you give them as a treat for while you're out and she's eating them that quickly she may not be chewing them properly before they go down and they could get stuck. I gave Indie a tripe stick and in her enthusiasm she tried to swallow it length ways and it got stuck in her gullet. If I hadn't been there she would have choked so I'm really wary of what I leave them with now.

The pig snouts are not so bad because they're really crispy and smaller and boy do they LOVE them!

Air Dried Pigs Ears are better for the dog.

Paddywhack is pretty calorific so again, should only be fed as a treat, or more often as long as you reduce the calories / amount of your dog's main meal(s) to allow for the treat.

Tripe sticks are popular in our house as are sprats.

Good website for "natural" treats is Zooplus.

I was in a rush one weekend and bought the dog some regular treats (basically just full of additives and colourings and allsorts, very little meat) from P@H, well the dog spat them out! Not impressed!!

If you are a member of costco they do boxes of 20 for £15 or something similar!!!!
or go to markets to doggy stalls, generally cheaper!
Beau loves them, but he only gets one a day, either for being really good, or in the evening to keep him quiet whilst we eat dinner!!!
bigger, older dogs I think can handle maybe 2 a day, but I wouldn't go much more!!!
sure your other dogs will give you so much gratitude it will feel like you got them for the other 2 as well!
