A badders this year decided that i needed a new pair of comp breeches as last pairs have seen better days. Two zips later plus darning holes (10 years old and many happy comp/hunting days). So spent 2day tramping through badders (such hardship) trying on new breeches. Evenually brought a nice pair of Pikeurs and very, very happy with them.

On tues when changing into them for posh lesson (i only ever use for BE comp/very, very posh lessons) and the bl00dy plastic zipper broke!!!!!!!

did thrown teddy out of pram.........

I thought, not problem i'll get them mended at local shop easier than me doing sewing (even tho i can but very busy this week)or trying to get money out of Pikeur for poor zipper. Blow me get to shop at lunchtime and they fitted wrong lenght zip leaving lovely hole 15mm at base of original, zip plus hadn't tied of any lose end

really shoddy job.

So of course they're re-doing, but totally peed off about it:

A) my very very expensive breeches in first place need new zip so quickly!!!!!!

B) when you pay someone to do professional job, you could do better yourself with one hand tied behind back

C) and then them getting a tad snotty with you NOT accepting their cr*ppy work.............

You live and learn something new everyday. If you want a job done properly - DO yourself!!!

GRRRRR......... end of minor grumpyness

Do you reckon as i've only worn them at 4 BE and 1 posh lesson (SH!T that's only five times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

) and i have been very very fussy about washing them

I would write to them. Totally unrelated but by brother had a pair of Oakley sunglasses, (the sporty ones) and within a couple if months they broke, (he didnt sit on them!!) So he wrote to Oakley sent the said glasses in the letter stated how unhappy he was as a valued customer he expected better blah blah blah, and he would never buy from them again. needless to say they sent him 2 new pairs and a great letter of appology... Always worth it even if you don't get anything back!

HELP who would i write too?????????????? just done a quick search on google and it only comes up with shops selling them. I assume they have there main office are based in Germany?

HELP does anyone contact address for customers services???

ps just rang up menders and saved zip so now can send to them to prove how poor quaility on zipper is

If the zip breaks after 5 wearing, its not of merchantable quality or fit for purpose.

Pikeur should be replacing them on that basis, unfortunate re the attempted repair but they should still contribute.

i now agreed BUT i can't find ANY BLOODY CONTACT details for them to have a moan at

Hello,
I might be able to help you. I bought a Pikuer Show jacket from Derby House earlier this year and when we paid for it (over £150) we were quite dismayed not to be supplied with a nice Pikeur branded jacket cover. We were told that they are not supplied from Pikeur. Very disgruntled I went home and emailed Pikeur direct about how unsatisfactory it was for a jacket of that price/quality to be supplied without a cover. A couple of days later they emailed back asking for my address, which I sent and a few days later I rec'vd a lovely Pikeur cover for my jacket - from Germany!!! Will go to email now and PM you with the address - Good Luck, but I was VERY satisfied with their service

This is interesting. I brought a pair at the end of August. I ended up in UK for something else and someone persuaded me to go and look at a horse - panic buying in the middle of london = trip to Harrods. I've worn them 4 times and the seem has gone just under the zip.

I'll email pikeur directly then as you seem to have had a good response.

Next question - just goggled Pikeur and nothing came up for the company themselves - does anyone have any ideas?

Oh My goodness. Really surprised and disappointed at this. I have had 3 or 4 pairs of pikeurs over the past 6 yrs or so. I have LOVED them, and honestly found them the most comfortable and long-lasting than any other jodhs I have brought. (I have some George Shumachers, Toggi).

I agree with Lulu. I would write a very strong letter stating that you had found pikeur a great brand until this experience, but now have no confidence in their brand. Say that you are unlikely to purchase from this them again, with your decreased level of confidence.

Lay it on a bit thick and I am sure you will get compensated....esp if they have had complaints about these zips already.

on reflection so am I. And now interested to read that i'm not only one who's had cr*ppy zip fitted in original breeches

Have a collection of older Pikeurs and they're brilliant, so that's why i paid such a daft amount of dosh thinking that i'll get the wear out of them.

But will let folk know how my reply goes for germany
