Pine Lodge Riding Centre Epping in Essex

Not sure, I remember a few places round Epping and High Beach/Beech, was it the one near the roundabout? Only rode there once or twice if so, but a friend of mine was yard manager. Or maybe I am thinking of somewhere else.

That may be Woodredon RS. That's just off the Wake Arms roundabout. THE_Carthorse and I both trained there eons ago, although not at the same time.

I remember Pine Lodge - when Bobby Bullman ran it - never rode there but our local PC (Essex Hunt South) used it for rallies, etc. & did some clear round jumping there - always good fun with HUNDREDS of dogs abut (ex Battersea jobs) & horses in the oddest places !!
Bring back Bobby !!!

I'm sure thats where i went on a riding holiday as a kid - if it is the one i dislocated my shoulder jumping there!

Thats right. A friend of mine still talks with her. Up until last year, she had one of Bobby's foals. He was PTS aged 30 ish......

Yep know it and remember it as a riding school. Its now been split/sold off so is now run as 2 seperate livery yards. pine lodge and Carlton House.
Think the riding schools struggle and lose the will to continue with all the insurance, health and safety, litigation etc etc etc it is a shame as in that area and with all that forest (you need a licence to ride in epping forest no matter who you are!) there are now only 2 riding schools left. High Beech and Woodredon EC. Even Tom at Nightingale riding stables has packed up!

When were you there? I used to ride and owned a horse there, it was a long time ago though.

Gosh I remember it well. It was always known as Bobby Stone's (shows how old I am). I used to go to PC rallies there and random shows over the years, mostly with Foresters RC I think. My friend had a horse at livery in what was the kennels next door where incidentally my last lab was bred.
I was around horses in that area all through seventies and eighties through working at High Beach RS, having horse at livery at Manor Farm and all sorts of things including committee member of EFRA from 73 to 89. Ah the good old days!
Remember Ernie Miller's tea hut? Cup of tea with half inch tea leaves in the bottom and a slice of cake to be shared with the horse. Hardly any regulations and free range riding all most of the forest.
Great memories of a well spent childhood!
