Had a rubbish day on paper, 4 faults in both my classes but I think he felt good and I got complemented on my riding which has never happened before and just boosted me with a lot of confidence. But that soon went when I got a snide comment about his height. Why can't people just not say anything?

I'm fed up with 4 faultitis though, it's so frustrating we keep getting very fast times (unintentionally) and without the faults we would be getting places pretty much every time we're out. What's more frustrating is I know it's my fault and I'm just hoping once I get more ring experience it goes.

The jumps seemed tiny compared to Blue Chip and I think Andy agreed after taking a few flyers in the BN. I got left behind a few times but I think after while I got used to them and went with him a bit more. The Disco went loads better, it felt smoother and looked nicer and I was gutted with the 4 faults but Andy couldn't have done better.

When we were warming up for the Disco he wouldn't jump anything over 2ft x pole he kept ducking out which isn't like him. I got really stressed but as soon as we get in the ring he starts behaving. Little git likes scaring me I think.

It was about his height as I compete him as a senior but he's 14.2 everything else there today was pretty big so we did stick out a bit. Some people just need to keep their mouths shut really as there was no need for it at all.

Dur, yep, you said height but I can't read.

Still don't see what the problem is. Surely they should be happy he's only little as theoretically it should make their life easier to beat you. Pah. People are such idiots sometimes!

IKR? Some people just rile me up! I'm also less intimidating in the warm up, you'd think they'd be happy there is a scrawney undersized TB in the same class as them.

You're not kidding when you say you're getting quick times - I wonder if this might be part of the problem, the one he took down he'd got a bit flat into as he was on a long stride.

Can you play with his canter stride much? Try imagining him as a space hopper - you can make them bounce on the spot and bounce forwards. At the moment he's very good at the bouncing forwards, practice bouncing him underneath you more so that you can give him the spring to round over his fences and clear them.

Don't worry though, it will come with time and practice - you're still a relatively new combination really!

I think he's lovely - well done, you do ride him really nicely.

I'm no expert at all, but think if you slow him down a bit, that might help stop you getting your 4 faults. You were jumping really nicely - and its only when he started to rush a bit and went into that fence a bit flat he knocked the pole. After that you worked at slowing him down again which worked! I can emphathise as I have a similar wizzy pony and I know its hard to keep them going at a sensible speed sometimes!

Lots of pole work might help slow him down - focusing on getting different strides between the poles.

I am having similar problems with losing out on good places because of 4 faults. It is so frustrating. Mine needs speeding up a bit though and probably yours needs to listen to you when you try to take a pull. I am still after my first BSJA DC - no luck in 3 outings. Grrrrr!!!
The height thing you'll always get comments because on a course this size you are so much quicker on a small horse which means for the bigger horses it can be frustrating but the line has to be somewhere and that is BSJAs decision not yours so just ignore them!!!
It looks a nice venue you are competing at?!

I try my best to slow him down he's so sensitive though so have to do this without touching his mouth or he throws his head in the air. I'm hoping with more ring experience I can get him slower! You wouldn't believe he is actually slower now I must have looked like fast a furious before!

It's so frustrating! Will definetly ignore in future, it just upset me a bit tbh. IT was at Summerhouse, a lovely venue but always very busy (they have to turn away entries on a regular basis.)

Thank you! There's an on going joke about him atm. If your horse looks normal speed in a slow motion video then you have a problem.

I think i'm inclined to agree with the imbeciles. I think the best course of action is to send him to Yorkshire to me. I can exchange you a 16.2hh black gelding, who swears blind he can't get over a trotting pole never mind ping over an actual fence. I think this is going to be a really good deal for you, what do you think?
