At the mo, mine is in nivia factor 50 kids water proof and a UV muzzle guard... And STILL gets burnt :( he likes to rub his suncream all over you but still sufficient amount on and he still has the guard on.
I feel so sorry for his little pink (bright red ATM) and peeling, sore nose :(
What does anyone else suggest?
Thanks x

My mare hates wearing a fly mask or anything on her nose. I tried using Nivea factor 50 but it came off really quickly.

The best thing I have found is Sudocreme it is thick so she can't rub it off and she doesn't mind it at all, I can apply it while she's in the field without putting a head collar on - show her a fly mask and she walks off! Sudocreme is cheap and very effective, it's one of the best tips I've had from this forum.

I used a Garnier factor 30 that I used to use for myself but it was a bit rubbish, too thin.

Now I use Morrisons own brand (yellow tube, green lid) baby & toddler factor 50+ for sensitive skin. It's sand resistant, no fragrance etc.. I think it works because it's SO thick, it's like the same consistency of toothpaste if that gives you a better idea. It's also the cheapest you can buy.

I also have one of the nose shields, but don't really use it because she always pulls it off :o

I find Ambre Solaire factor 40 or 50 (the waterproof one) is the best. I look out for it when it is on offer. It is expensive but seems to stay on well and gives good protection.

i just use any old high factor kids sunblock- but then whisper only has a partialy pink nose.

my friend has a mare who is completely pink and suffers realy badly- she has tried all sunblocks and uses a mask which does help- but tends to keep her in on the hottest of days and puts her back out in the evenings. i will give her the sudocrem tip and see how she gets on. ;)

Not tried it on a neddy yet but I swear by Ultrasun products, I used the sports gel on my kids and it's fab as it only needs applying once a day! It costs a bit more but cause you don't have to re apply it works out better value!

Xx

Another vote for Ambre Solaire ... Kids formula hypo-allergenic SPF 60 waterproof.

Thick consistency and doesn't wash off in water trough when the horse goes for a drink. Can also usually be found either half price or 2-for-1 in some supermarket

We use the same as OP but over an initial barrier of Sudocrem. Seems to irritate otherwise and we find they don't rub it off with the Sudocrem on first.

Another vote for Morrisons childrens factor 50. It is cheap, stays on and seems to sooth if his nose does get a little burnt.
