Hello,

I have just purchased my first horse after years of loaning (very exciting!)

However, he has a pink nose which I am concerned might get burnt with the lovely weather we are having, what does everyone suggest to give him a bit of protection?

TIA
xx

I use a full fly mask, so his nose is covered. I find he wipes suncream off too quickly to rely on it and if he does get a bit sunburnt on the bottom of his chin, I find aloe vera gel soothes and clears it up within 20 hours.

Have fun with your new horse :)

Lots of suncream and I've just bought a uv nose net and a field safe head collar to see if that helps.

He's lovely :) I had a WBxWelsh with a pink nose and I used Factor 50 that was designed for horses. It was apple flavoured! He hated me putting it on though so maybe a fly mask suggested by Mrs B would be better if Brendan objects to/rubs off the cream?

My horse has a pink nose. I have had him 5 years he has never had any sign of a sore nose and I have never applied any sun cream, maybe I have been lucky and this is unusual I don't know.

Same as others, kids waterproof factor 50. Put on the night before usually. I tried the fly mask thing, but he removes them. Tried the headcollar and attached nose net thing too, he removed both. He doesnt mind the suncream being put on oddly, he pulls faces but he lets you do it.
