Pink papered refers to the horses documented breeding papers. Usually used in reference to imported warm bloods. Theses papers are the horses' registration documents, showing lineage and status within its breed. For example Dansk Varmblod have three grades of horse and the papers show their grade., breeder, place of birth, family tree, grading results and brand.
When a mare is bred it is up to the society what the registration will be, whethre it will be a fullbred or cross. Some european breeds have british equivilants such as hanovarians; where as some can be graded in this country by judges from the country the breed originates from.
The pink papers are not our passports, so imported horses require both.
My vet advises that new imports also have their implant number shown on their papers.

Foals that are from graded parents on both sides are eligible for Pink Papers for that particular warmblood breed.

Certain Thoroughbreds and Arabs are eligible for registration and are accepted within the 'Trakehener' breed. It is a way of retaining the thoroughbred qualities whislt still keeping their own individual type and character!!

Have you got the breeding of your horse handy??

Usually with trakehners, a thoroughbred that has been accepted is listed with a 'xx' after its name and arabs with'ox' after its name. If this is not the case maybe your horse only has one graded Trakehner parent and in this case i believe they are eligible for 'green' papers, but i am not too sure??
