Hi, just wondered if anyone had come across the same problem as my horse has. He has developed pink patches on his skin on areas where there is little hair. He has a large patch to the side of his mouth, a couple of spots on his nostrils, one under his dock & now he is getting one in the the corner of his eye. It is looking quite unsightly, anyone???

It sounds a bit like warts or sarcoids to me or possibly a fungal infection. I'd get the vet to look at it if i were you. What colour is he and how old? Youngsters between 2-3years often get small warts around their mouth, nostrils etc., which dissappear by themselves after a while. Grey horses are suseptible to melanoma, which is a benign tumour, but can become cancerous. I don't mean to put a fright into you, but it's better to get these things checked early to have peace of mind. Hope that helps, faerie666.
