Good Point. It isn't 'heating' but if your horse is deficient in something then it may perk him up a little, leading to a perceived heating effect. If this should happen, I would reduce the mix or carbs he has in his diet, rather than stopping with the balancer. (because you don't want the deficiency back)
It would also be worth checking what is in the balancer against what is in his feed as it should complement the hard feed.
pink powder is an aid to the digestive system so it allows a horse to digest more of the hard feed you give him. Therefore its not the pink powder itself that is heating, but the added energy he is gaining form the hard feed, so just cut it down a little.
the main ingredient appears to be "wheatfeed". I only ask as I have had such problems with my TBs food and I cut out everything and gradually re-introduce things one at a time and then see what happens. When I added the pink powder back he was definitely more jumpy the next couple of days, I have removed it again and will see what he is like tonight.
TBH I would give it a bit longer than a couple of days just to be sure - but it may be as others have said that he is getting more from his feed.
You could try giving the people at NAF a quick call - they are usually v helpful!
Think you're doing rthe right thing though, taking things away and adding them back in - it's a real minefield as it can be a combination of more than one.
