A friend wants to sell her 14.2hh pony - nothing wrong with him except he is too strong for her, she being a fairly novice, nervous adult rider. Someone has suggested part-exchanging him at Pinnacle Equestrian and I wondered whether anyone has any info, good or bad, about this establishment. Looking at their website, the horses appear a bit high-powered for my friend who basically wants a safe, quiet, push-button hack.

Also, can anyone recommend a reputable dealer in Hertfordshire who would take a part-exchange? I can name quite a few dodgy dealers, but need details of a good one, and obviously not one who deals only in competition horses since my friend is looking for a safe hack.

I was in touch with Pinnacle when I was looking for a 5-6 year old showjumper a few months back - they had nothing even close to my budget of 8K. Things might have changed now though.

I am sure they are very good though.

I know of a pony there were selling that sounds like it might have suited you down to the ground they wanted about 5k for her but they might take offers. The horse was called something like jemma/jenna and was a great all round pony that was sane. think she was about 14.2.

Hope this helps and the guys who run it are ok.

I liked Pinnacle Equestrian when I went there. They seemed very nice and friendly and they weren't pushy at all. They do sell more competition ponies than quiet hacks but they must be worth a ring!

I would NOT recommend Pinnacle Equestrian. I went there on friday with my daughter and tried a very nice pony. We left a deposit there and then and have the receipt. That evening i received an email to say they had already taken a deposit from someone else the night before so could they return my deposit cheque.

this is disgraceful and has completely put me off dealers especially pinnacle.

I bought my horse from Pinnacle Equestrian and I found the whole process pleasant and reassuring. The description of the horse was spot on and they were open and helpful on the phone, providing plenty of information (including his weak pointsl) to make sure I didn't waste my time visiting a horse that wasn't suitable. When I was there, they didn't pressurise me to buy and they encouraged me to go back for a second visit to make sure he was the right horse. They gave the impression that their aim wasn't just to make a sale - it was to make sure I got the right horse and that he got the right owner.
