Hi everyone, my horse is a bit itchy at the moment and has a few lumps and bumps on her - nothing too bad but I'd like to reduce her itching. So I've been reading other posts on piriton as I was thinking of buying the 500 tablets online and trying her to see if it helps. So I was wondering what dose people think I should have a 15.3hh thoroughbred on? There seems to be different amounts on other posts so I am unsure! I think I might run this past my vet first as I'm worried she may have a reaction or something to it but would still be interested what people use for this height horse? Also do you crush the tablets up or just put them in whole? Thanks for any help! Lucy x

Hiya,
Would def talk to your vet first (I know you did state you might but just for emphasis!) as they usually do dosage by weight rather than height so your horse may need a smaller dosage than say a 14.3hh and vise versa depending on weight :)
Oh and when I give tablets I just chuck them in his hard feed - no crushing needed but I do have a food lover so if your horse is fairly picky you may need to crush them.

I give my 16h TBxID between four and eight. They are tiny, she is the fussiest horse ever, won't take bute etc, but the piriton can be pushed into a slice of apple and she doesn't notice!

Thanks for the replies. When my horse was on ventipulmin the vet worked out the doseage on her weight being 550kg. The doses people give do seem to vary though so I guess what works for one may be different to another. I think I'll try the hyperdrug allergeze first and see if that helps and if not have a chat with my vet about the piriton and doseage. x
