For those I haven't spoken to before, I broke my talus and fibula in July.

I have only just started partial weight bearing with my tippie toes, but if I'm out and about, I can't be hopping my 'good foot' for more then 5 minutes, so I have a wheel chair!
wink.gif

I had to laugh the other day, these veteran horses just 'know' what to do when it comes to faffing OH's!!

OH went to turn out the bay in my signature, Sammi. Got his head collar. Sorted head collar out, approached Sam at his hay... Sam casually wandered off over to his lick. Follow Sam to his lick, faff about with head collar, get it sorted and Sam would walk off to his hay lol! Spent a good 5 minutes following Sammi around the stable to get it on.... then realised Sam was taking the 'peeee' out of him lmao!

Today Sammi, is seeing the dentist! Obviously I can't hold him.... and so the very green novice OH has to lmaoooooooo!

This could be interesting!!
smirk.gif
Sammi takes some firm but very quiet handling.... I wonder who will out smart who!!

Luckily for me I am at a yard full of experienced liveries which may have to step in and rescue the OH..... Lets face it, Sammi won't need rescuing ha ha haaa!

I know who I am putting my money on!!

Yep my cash is on Sammi too!
You are lucky to have such a lovely OH. Im out of action too, recovering from a hysterectomy and my OH is a right pain in the a**e! Luckily I have a really ace mate who is doing my horses for me.

My moneys on Sammi too! When i broke my leg last year my mare Jess enjoyed playing lots of games with OH especially coming in from field. normally she is good as gold but obviously not with men! Your OH is v good to offer to hold Sammi for dentist, i think my OH would have drawn the line at that

.

Hope your leg is healing nicely, I was in wheelchair for awhile too and i know how frustrating it can be. especially watching others struggling with your horse and you can't do anything. I had to catch my mare from my wheelchair over the fence one evening because she wouldn't go near OH or my friend, naughty mare
grin.gif
. Hope the weight bearing goes well and you are soon back on your feet

Bored isn't even the half of it! I have NEVER spent so much time indoors! I even know what's going on in the soaps on TV lol! Being on here has helped, taken me away from watching all the chat shows! I miss my horses soooo much!
frown.gif
The OH has really pulled through bless him! I think secretly he likes it!!
grin.gif

If I have ever whinged about being skint before, he always use to say, well if you're struggling, you will have to sell Rox (my 18 month old coloured). We were chatting the other day, I said if me and Rox don't get along in later ridden life, I would sell him... he said you will NEVER sell Rox! Hook, line and sinker ha ha haaaaaaaaa!

He loves my ponies te he heeeee

claracluck - my goodness! How long have you been out of action? Hope you're okay! Luckily all my mates help my OH out - I would be lost without them! A few of us at the yard all had bad falls and injuries at the same time (spooky eh)... two of the OH's wouldn't help out and my mates parents had to do it instead!

lmao yeah I must admit it is entertaining watching OH
tongue.gif
... but then at the same time I hate it!
frown.gif
I just can't wait for the day I can look after them again! Sammi isn't an easy ride, he gets quite stressy, so haven't got anyone exercising him, I would HATE that! I bet it was a nice feeling when your mare didn't want to be caught by them, but wanted her Mum!
grin.gif

These things can't be rushed though, so trying to keep my chin up, will be back on my feet before I know it! How long were you out of action? What bone(s) did you break? Any metal work? xx

*points and laughs at Laura loving the soaps!*

I can't begin to imagine how frustrated you are, treat this as an excuse to get your post count up lol. You should wander in to Soapbox too!

Hope your recovery continues to plan

I broke my tibia plateau and the fracture went up into my knee joint so in hospital for 2 weeks and 2 plates running down both sides of my lower leg! I had 9 weeks non-weightbearing then about three months moving from 2 crutches to one crutch. Its now a year and 3 months since my fall and my leg is only just start feeling ok again. I started riding again in Feb but only walking and my leg was quite sore when i started doing rising trot. Its better now and i can nearly ride as normal
grin.gif
.

I found the worst thing through all of it was watching others trying to cope with my horses ( i keep them at home so no livery helpers!) so i felt like i was putting on my OH and friends and the horses became progressively more naughty. I started mucking out before i could walk by standing in the middle of the stable, putting my crutches down and balancing using the brush and fork!!! It was just sooo good to be doing something with the horses again! You also find funny little ways of doing things like kicking buckets along the floor because you can't carry anything! Getting onto one crutch is a major relief!

Hang in there because you will get there and all the little things which other people find so mundane, like mucking out and grooming become a massive pleasure

Chuffing Nora! That sounds horrendous! Reading your post, I must say, I was nodding all the way through and sympathsising!

My coloured is only 18 months old, handling wise he has (had) impeccable manners for his age. I have had massive amounts of compliments from showing judges expressing their shock of how well behaved he is for his age! I thought I had landed lucky with a laid back young chappy... nope - firm but fair handling does wonders..... to my dismay his manners are getting worse handling wise
frown.gif
AND he grabbed at my hands really bolshy whilst I was on my crutches! Someone had been tit-bitting him

Can't wait to be able to give him the time he needs again, and he soon will come right again

It's the little things you take for granted, and so, when I get back on my feet, I will DEFINITELY appreciate the little things so much more!

UPDATE.....

Naturally Sammi won.... my 15.3 gelding turned into a 17hh stallion lmaoooooooooo... proceeded by dragging OH around the stable backwards hanging from his neck lol! Threatened a few times to rear! Threw head up in the air and even my OH couldn't reach him lol, and he is 6foot 7!! Sammi finally simmered and allowed dentist to do her job! Only had to ask my friend to intervene once.....

although.... much to my amusement.... my youngster got in on the act... managed to unclip himself and wandered off down the yard to raid the feed buckets.... OH legging it after him! Oh boy did I laugh! My horses just take advantage of him LMAOOOOOOOOO
