Hi All, can't help but noticing all the beautiful Animo / Equiport soft shell technical jackets and how lovely they are but also can't help but notice the price tag which is way, way out of my budget!
It seems these days show jackets are looking less and less like the traditional, plain, wool style and more like fashion jackets. I wonder if there's any way to get a fashion/blazer style jacket that's non equine but looks like it could be.
The ones with diamante buttons/zips instead of buttons etc, hardly look equestrian anyway, and the John Whitaker jump jackets look like waterproof sport jackets made by regatta or trespass or something but are BSJA legal as they have the logo on the sleeve.
I am really interested in the stretchy soft shell design purely as I find the traditional non stretch material very restricting and if it's big enough round my shoulders then it's far too baggy around my waist and makes me look an extra 3 stone, or if it's fitted round the waist, then it's up to my elbows etc etc - stretch is the way forward - I never have a problem with breeches!
I managed to find a zip up t-shirt on *well known auction site* for £1.99 including postage which had a zip like the £100 animo ones do, and it really didn't look any more equestrian than the ones which are purpose made and it was just a sports one.
I'm wondering if there's any blazers around (let's be honest show jackets do look like blazers) that can be bought at a fraction of the price just because they don't have the word "equestrian" or "horse" attached to them, much the same way as using human ointments for horses.
Also, I've noticed all these beautiful clothes seem to be made in Italy or France, is there any way to buy secondhand things from these countries the same way you could win something for 99p from the UK secondhand that someone's listed in error. Once I remember seeing a Whitaker jacket go for 99p just because someone hadn't listed it correctly and put Whittakker instead
.
Love finding bargains! And I'm absolutely on a mission to get a lookalike £300 jacket for around £20. Haha.
