Ok i'm not a spoilt brat or anything like that just getting impatient. I've wanted my own horse for many years and all this time hve borrowed, loaned etc now i am slowly seeing a light at the end of this tunnel and slowly making plans to buy one.

I've been looking around at whats on offer at the mo so i can work out if my plans are realistic.
Do you think it's possible to buy something 14.2 - 15.2, between 7 and 10 and a good all rounder thats as safe/sensible as poss for less than 2 grand? I don't expect the perfect horse but as long as we gel as it has some sort of sanity i'd be happy.

sorry but no i don't they are like gold dust. usually around £4,500-£6000 well around this way they are, i have one, have had him 8 years and paid £5,750 back then, although he had a fair amount of money on him bsja card and went on to win more with me.

I have no connections with above adverts just having a look through, and the above are horses I see as horses you can get on and do a bit of everything at, but not at a high level and more importatly have fun. These are the type of horses that my Toffee are and what Samba will be.

Yes, I would have thought so.
Paid £1500 for my rising 8yr old all rounder 15.1 last October. I 'overlooked' her slight pin toes as I thought was priced accordingly.
Her dreadful table & pushy stable manners are now already resolved and she's turned out (in around 4 months) to be a poppet.
Can be souped up with very positive riding & extra feed, or can be steady-neddy out of the field on hay.

Good luck :)

You might be able to find what you want to ride in your price bracket with a vice/issues that you can put up with and that is maybe a bit younger or older. I have a pony who'd do all that, who needs a supplement in the summer or she headshakes. She's going on loan now, but was initially up for sale for less than 2k.

I wanted a large pony :D
The 14.3hh to 15.1hh's tend to be harder to sell so a little cheaper unless you want a coloured cob or something that is show quality.
Both my boys cost a lot less than your budget, both had quirks on the ground though.

hello personally I think not I'm afraid, I think you need a good £2000 more looking at £2600 for something like that, good luck with your pony search :)

I don't think you would get what you are ;looking for within your budget unless it had issues. Any reason you don't look at a 4 or 5 year old? Get the right temperament and start learning together?
You could probably get a young New Forest X and they make superb 'large' ponies.

I doubt it, I'm afraid! Horses in my area seem pretty expensive, you would be looking at about £3500 - £7000 depending on it's competition record. They are so sought after, everyone wants one!!

If you are experienced enough you could look at ex racehorses? They are often cheap, and you can find some real gems, some of which are not 'thoroughbreddy' at all, and due to having seen a lot, pretty bombproof.

Honestly the way things are at the moment , horses are going for so cheap! , i bought my old pony for £700 pounds and he was fantastic and never put a hoof wrong , he had excellent breeding too!
dont worry the light at the the end of the tunnel a brighter than you think!
