I'm not asking a lot, all I want is a F/S black plain hunter bridle. I don't want to spend more then £60 new - which I think is more than a reasonable amount of money for bridle that will primarily be used for hacking and schooling and hunting. I couldn't fine ONE hunter bridle of any description at Badders and the only ones I can find on line are Gallop (which I will not buy) or Jefferies or some other top make/range. I want billets to bit, not buckles too. Has anyone seen one whilst surfing the net? I can't even find a second hand one on ebay

They are hard to find, I bought my one from the Royal Norfolk, it was 30 pounds, nice billet fittings and looks smart not cheap looking or feeling at all. T doesn't look right in a raised one and everything seems to have a flash attachment which I don't need and looks untidy when you don't use a flash with it.

Glad it's not just me! Hmmm I am competing at RN this year with the 2yo, don't suppose you recall the name of the stand? They may be there again!

I have a colligate one which is surplus to requirements. I have bought a set of double leather reins to go with it.

Reins have never been used bridel has been used twice.

PM me if your interested

[/ QUOTE ] Have you tried asking Gibsons in Newmarket to make one for you? We've had a few made over the years from them and Requisites (all cheaper than off the shelf) - they don't know the price of Hunter bridles - they go by the price of racing bridles - and you can give them your exact measurements, thickness of leather you want, choose the leather itself, can decide what colour stitching and what type of stitching you want, etc. etc. Can't promise that Gibsons will still do it, as they've changed ownership the past couple of years and we haven't had one made since then, but was always excellent quality and at half price to the tack shops (and came with reins as well).

Try this person on ebay - a friend gets her tack made to measure from him for her show horses and swears by him - excellent quality and a reasonable price.

I am going to buy a bridle from him next year for showing when Chancer has stopped chewing at things. The made to measure price is not that different - excellent if like me you have a horse that is between cob and full.

It is a bit more than your budget on the buy it now, but you may get lucky by bidding.

QR - thank you everyone for all your replies and all the links and suggestions! I will look into all of them I think!

Thank you!!!

My hunter bridle is made by heritage saddlery - he supplies the local tackshop, and it really is beautiful quality. I think it cost me £60-70 from the tackshop (minus reins), and it was made up from random sizings as Meg has got an odd shaped head.

Meg is wearing hers in my sig (I added the flash attachment). He does some nice stitching on the brow bands to make it a bit more interesting if you want

I have a cheap Kincade one. It cleans up really nicely though and looks just as good as much posher brands

Ditto, I bought a black hunter style Kincade double bridle complete with bits for £60 exactly. It's four years old now and still looks fabulous. It has got billets rather than buckles too.

Sabre Eton is a lovely hunter bridle, there is someone on ebay who sells them, ive had 2 new black ones off ebay and i treated myself to a double bridle direct from Sabre. Lovely quality leather nice and soft, good width on nose band etc looks good in either colour....this is my double and the Eton hunter is identical in style

I'd have to echo toomanyhorses on that one - I've had quite a bit of IV Horse gear over the years and it's always been great, especially the leatherwork and grooming items. I think they've recently added some new bridles to their range too.

Have a look - they do a lot of products I wasn't aware of before I visited their web site!
