Plait or pull?

I'm off to the Chiltern Rider championships next weekend and have qualified for the Riding horse class, i plaited his tail and mane for the qualifier. Would a plaited or pulled tail be better?

Any opinions?

Pulled..............However if you can't do it well, plait it (nothing worst than a badly pulled tail).
