Plaiting a Tail?

well aslong as you know the basics to plaiting just keep it tight without cutting circulation then if you still have little straggly bits and you a neat freak like i am with plaiting then just have a little trim untill the ends are not noticeable.
if just using a normal rubber band then dont fold under the plain plait as usual if you sewed it in place just put a plain plait half way then tie with the band thats how i do it and it works well :D

i wouldnt trim the stragggly bits, spray it all with hairspray then wrap a tail bandage round it. this will tidy it all up. just be very carefull when taking the bandage off. When plaiting always take as small peices as you can to bring into the plait or it will get really chunky really quickly. I always plait all the way down the last bit, band then fold under and band the two halves at the bottom of the 'frenchplait' bit.

Practice! Lots and lots of practice! The first time I attempted to plait a tail it looked as though someone had staken a very rough stone and scrubbed it up and down the horses tail. And now, even though they aren't perfect, they are still pretty darned good compared to most peoples. But yes, small sections, plait all the way to the end of the hair. As to how far down to go - either the end of the dock or 3/4 way down the bum - which ever comes first.

Practice! Don't use a recently washed tail, but do comb it and brush through it with a body brush, making sure it's really clean and detangled. I do recommend damping the dock down SLIGHTLY before hand because it makes it easier to get all the little hairs, and can make it last longer. Plait it firmly, starting as far up as you can and try not to get kicked in the process ;) xx

Lots of practice!
Don't wash the tail the night before, it'll be too slippery to be worth trying. It's easier if you dampen the hair before starting working with it (so if you have washed it, it's still do-able). Only bring in little bits otherwise your plait will be too fat too far up. And don't rush!
