Either with thread or rubber bands?

Roughly how long does it take you to plait up your horses mane for competition, when I say this, I'm not talking about really going to town on them like you would in a showing class, I just mean a quick bog standard half decent plaited mane.

Usually about 20 mins for 11 plaits down neck and then 1 forelock if i knuckle down and dont get distracted. If i am having a dim moment with my sectioning it can take me longer.

Banded about half hour. Thread about an hour.

I do however tend to plait down the night before then roll up next day ad replait just the ones that got messy over night.

Yeah I'd say about the same, providing the mane is a good mane to plait, there has been other times when it's taken less and times when it's taken a hell of lot more too.

When I was doing it regularly on an exam yard (many moons ago!) it was 10 mins. Now, however, I don't get to do it nearly enough (only twice this year :( ) so it takes me faaaaaar to long!!!!!!!!!!!!!

20 - 30 mins depending how long it takes for my left hand to cramp (does funny things this hand) However I must say after regularly lurking around this forum now I see I really could do with spending more time on my plaits and making them look nicer lol :)

about 15min with bands - providing i have prepared the mane beforehand (pulled etc) and no1 has sprayed detangler on as a laugh - oh yeah - real funny ha ha-

Wouldnt like to take on someones long scissored mess in 15min!!!

Withh thread, about 20 mins. I do have plenty of needles threaded beforehand though so i dont have to keep stopping and re-threading. Bands take me farrrr longer as i dont think they ever look tight/neat enough and keep taking them out and trying again!

Did 2 in half an hour this morning, maybe ten mins if pushed for time.

That's not bad going, they must be nice neat manes.

This is when we find out which HHO members have the horses with the best well kept/pulled manes :D

I'm afraid I don't fall into that section, perhaps I might sometime next week...hopefully.

30 mins? Thats with bands - I don't do it very often though, so not that well practised.

5 mins to do the foreloack (as horse will no doubt helpfully move his head at a crucial moment) and 5 mins to plait the tail - hand cramp allowing!! :D

Iam absolulty crap at plaiting with bands so never do it, with thread about half hour, but my eye sight not as good as when I was young it takes ages for me to thread a needle, only thing is needles with bigger 'eyes' are a bit blunt and I like them sharper.
