I am taking Benj out to a party on Saturday and think I should plait him up.

Now, Benj has ALOT of mane. His crest is about 2 inches thick and has a proper double mane. I want him to look smart and don't fancy eating/getting tangled in his mane whilst out.
I can do a running plait but his mane is sooooo thick it rarely stays in.

HELP!!

thin out first if pos... with a tail rake maybe, i've heard they're good for manes too.
otherwise, just accept that you're going to have lots of pingpongball sized plaits, and try to make them all the same size and in a straight line! doing the first fold-over not too tight, but then as tight as pos after that, keeps it tidy.

Pray tell - who are you out with? Fancy babysitting Chancer and I next year as I would love to do a half day if he is up to it.

If you can get him over Friday night, I can do it then, or another time come over on a Saturday and we will work something out for the future - yet to have a mane beat me.

What a pretty boy!

I think a corn plait would work- if you stand on something next to his shoulder, and brush the hair towards you, the section it into three and plait down towards yourself, adding a section as you go. Keep your hands low so it lays flat on his crest. You end up with a tail of hair- stick a band on the end of it and you can either let it dangle, or fold it over the plait and stitch it down.
