Due to recent events, I have really decided to sort out Plan B... The reality is that I bought Grace to compete BD. She is not a happy hacker because she is a bit stressy on the road, and where I am she just cannot be a field ornament for the cost of livery, shavings and haylage. So, I have made the decision that Plan B is to put her into foal (the foal will be sold) this Spring if the news is bad tomorrow. All this also depends on whether whatever it is could be hereditary too.

I know I have not heard what is causing this lameness yet, but I need something to look forwards to and work towards if the worst news comes my way

I did put a post about this a while ago, but due to the lack of a search engine, I cannot find it...

As this foal would be for sale at weaning, I would like it to be as saleable as possible. Grace is by an ex racer of unknown breeding out of a stallion called Ginola du Rezidal (by Greeton du Rezidal out of a Premier KWPN Grade A mare). She is very much full of show jumping lines, but as I do dressage I know more about dressage stallions

However, as this one is not for me, I would be willing to breed one for any discipline.

I still love Jazz as a dressage stallion

When my photobucket stops being silly, I'll put some images on

For me, to know a youngster is by Jazz, I would a bit wary of the "hot" aspect. But if this is destined for top level competition then people love him and dont mind that.

How about Wie Weltmeier, or one of those? Is that a stallion? Or that one of Carl's is it Rambo or something like that? It may be a calmer sort. Or Wolkentanz, is that a quieter one? To be honest I think they are all calmer than Jazz!

But that's nice that you have made a decision that will perk you up if things are not going well. Its such a dark and miserable time of year...

Being brutally honest there is no way I'd consider breeding form a 6 year old that was lame until I knew the cause and it was not likely to be hereditery. I suspect any pruchaser would want to know the cause too.

I wouldn't breed from her until I knew exactly what it was, which is why I put in the opening post: "All this also depends on whether whatever it is could be hereditary too."

I should know today what is causing the lameness as she is with a specialist in Halifax as we speak.

Surely the thing you can look forward to is continuing to ride Grace and compete her to the highest level you can??? You have been doing so well on her that there is no reason to suppose you won't continue to do so. Sure something may be discovered slightly amiss by the person she's being evaluated by - but that would be the same for any horse that is under close scrutiny..........

I think you are an incredibly talented rider, you have a couple of lovely horses - but boy are you a worry scurry................

Please don't take offence, because I mean it in the nicest way.

Aw thank you honey, and I do not take offense in the slightest

That is Plan A, to compete Grace to the level I have only ever dreamed of reaching. Even if this means 6 months box rest and starting all over again, I will do it

However, should it be bad news today when the vet contacts me, I have made the decision to start searching for a stallion so she has a 'job' so to speak. I don't think I could sell her because I am so attached to her, and for the same reason I could not keep her on the yard I am on without work as the turnout it every other day in winter which would send her off her rocker
smile.gif

At the moment I just needed a Plan B... (plan A is still the preferrable option though

I am off to vechta for the Oldenberg stallion grading next week so will keep my eyes open. First you need to decide whether to go for jumping or dressage. Personally I'd go for a good moving jumping stallion. From the photos she looks a little downhill so bear that in mind. I have a lovely filly by Contendro 1 he is a jumping stallion who really stamps his stock

How about Odermus R? He throws nice leggy uphill horses with lovely dressage paces, but he is a showjumper so you would get the best of both.

If not Sir Donnerhall - hes got a lovely jump, really nicely built uphill too.

Or how about another broodmare?? Bananaman's Spider's dam is for sale and in-foal to Ringo (due May)!!! Plus you get a free covering next season! Bargain, you get 2 Ringo babies, both Spider's full brothers/sisters.

I was going to buy her but my finances will not stretch that far at the moment
