Planning advice - steel shed 60 x 30 - experience?

Hi - Does anyone have any experience whether planning permission is needed to erect a steel framed shed. We have a 3 acre field and would like to put up a steel shed (we also rent a further 9 acres) we have sheep and chickens on the land, shed is to store tractors and some farm based machinery. Based in Cheshire ... would anyone have any idea if permission is needed? Had read about some 28 day policy ... but unsure if this would be viable for us. I have checked the local councils website and cant find anything very helpful.
Any insight/info would be really appreciated.

60x30 what?

I would think you'd need planning unless it's tiny or mobile.

Sorry, just re read its a machine store, so yes it's big and it needs permission.
 
Why don't you give your local council planning department a call, they will tell you directly whether planning is required for your particular area but would assume generally anything that size is going to need planning. Good luck.

I'm reading this as 60x30m? There's a lot of people that do that then later convert to an indoor arena and councils can sometimes frown upon depend upon your area, I know of a friend who couldn't get planning for a steel building of similar size as the council thought she would later turn it into an indoor so they only approved planning for a much smaller (and frankly useless size for an indoor), so be mindful if this is your long term plan.

If I remember rightly you have to have 12 acres for 'permitted development but I think you have to own it. Speak to the planners they'll know for sure.
 
For machinery, surely you mean 60 feet, not metres? If so, if you had the qualifying 12 acres, then my understanding from friends who did it is that is almost impossible for them to refuse you planning consent on a building up to 4,500 square metres 30x15 metres, as long as it is for farming purposes. My friends got it in the Cheshire Peak Park, so down on the plain should be even easier. They park a tractor in it from time to time. The rest of the time they enjoy a very workable indoor school!
 
We have just had planning for a 60x40 tractor shed, we had to put in for planning but I don't think they would be likely to refuse. There are several rules you need to comply with so would be easiest to give the planners a call or send them a plan and what you want to do and where. Then you will get a correct answer.
