I don’t want to hijack the other thread, but is anyone able to recommend a planning consultant that covers north west England? It would be particularly helpful if you have had a good experience in the past couple of years.

I’m just following up on my previous tentative post. I’ve used an equestrian planning consultant to submit an application, but need further advice and unfortunately haven’t heard back from the original consultant. It may not need to be someone based in the north west, so any recommendations would be a massive help.

Not a planning consultant but I am an architect so may be able to guide you in right direction if you want to provide more information? George F White may be helpful, they do alot of rural /farm projects but think they cover more north east areas?

OP, look on your local council planning site for similar applications that have been approved in your area, if they’ve employed a specialist planning consultant, all the paperwork with their contact details on will be there. After a exceptionally costly mistake in the UK with someone who advertised as an equestrian planning consultant and she couldn’t have advised us more wrongly, was completely incompetent and cost us more money going back and forth getting additional things like environmental surveys (that the council didn’t require), our application was rejected (it should have been a very straight forward one, as it was applying for permission for something that already had planning but had expired. A neighbour got planning for some pretty spectacular build and facilities, despite multiple objections (and building it first and applying retrospectively but they had a Very good local specialist to do the whole application, he knew the Council planning department inside and out, as he had done so many applications previously with them.

In my experience, there is a better chance of getting your planning, if you employ someone experienced who is familiar with your council.

Abigail Baldrey Gateway Planning comes VERY highly recommended from me. She leaves no stone unturned.
