So after three excellent days riding, tomorrow is set to rain. Soooo, it's the start of show prep.

In the morning he is going to get a 15 min lunge... I may try loose schooling but its taking your life in your hands as he runs to you bucking and leaping and generally pratting around:p

Then half an hour later he's having his sedaline, once that has kicked in, I'm pulling the tail (this is being done in two stages, stage one tomorrow) tidying the legs and pulling the rest of his mane. Towards the end of the sedaline, it's bath time, scrub, scrub, scrub with baby shampoo and purple spray for a sparkly white slug. I may start to trim his head too or leave this for stage two on Friday.

He should be well on his way to unrecognisable by this time tomorrow!

I also have to get the farrier in to tidy his feet up at the edges.

Anyhow, bens having some beauty therapy tomorrow...

What are you doing?

I moved my horses to a new yard/field today so tomorrow morning will be spent getting the tack room into some sort of order. If I have the energy I may ride one of them and then lunge the other but at the moment, after a completely none stop weekend, I am not feeling all the keen on that idea!!

Uni in the afternoon and then back to the yard to do the beastlets and hopefully meet nice Mr Lorry man who I hope is going to fix my lorry that ever so helpfully decided to break down when I wanted to leave the yard to come home tonight (only consolation being that it waited till after I had moved the horses and didn't decide not to start after it took me 2 and a half hours to load my horse!).

Well today was a success in the majority... I didn't make it up in time to lunge, but I did get the pulling and the bath done... He only had three notches of sedalin which is the smallest sedation he's had to date, but I did twitch him too. I started on the tail... He started getting restless with his back feet... Just picking them up but putting them back down when I told him too, then I thinned and shortened the top of his mane to equal the bottom... Much more narky with this, hence the twitch, he foot stomped a bit and I smacked his foot with the whip, in the third reprimand he stopped. Then back to the tail and he behaved so well... I haven't gone to town, just a nice conservative pull for now, and I need to pull the short bits later this week but I have to say I'm quite chuffed as I haven't pulled a tail in about ten years! Next it was a baby shampoo with added purple spray bath, I managed to get most of him wet with the hose... Major improvement on hast time, then scrub with soap, and doused off with buckets of water.... I would have done a second soak and rinse but he started to shiver, and with a bit of sedaline in him I didn't want him going into some sort of shock so rinsed him off and popped him in the stable to dry him off. Bless him, he was stabled all day but I've left him in tonight too, he was still wet at about 6.30 pm so decided to keep him in and warm with dinner and all he could eat hay for the night.

There are no pictures as yet... Since he was still damp when I left him in the care of the YO, his legs still need doing and the tail still needs work as does his head, but I'm sure tomorrow he will gleam! I've dettoled his tail, it was his first pull and there were a few heads of blood... Last thing I want is for him to be in any more discomfort than is necessary. Tomorrow is hack day and a simple groom, then Thursday or Friday is the final stages of tarting up... Then I will post some proper before and after pics... He has however been so good today and I'm so chuffed he was ok with his tail being pulled... It's the thing I hate more than everything else! Anyway a couple of days and I will post some yak to swan pictures! Hack tomorrow in the rain lol!

My lot are being trimmed tomorrow too. Other than that I'm not too sure. Will take J for a quick run up the byway and long rein Dae, but Fergs... I could school (unlikely!) or hack... Or I might set up a free jumping lane in the field...

Tomorrow the Welsh Cob is getting gelded -woooohoooooo!!!!!!!! Then I am off to a book signing in Edinburgh before heading home to ride then pull, trim and strim the Mountainous one! He got a bath today - the colour of the water coming off of him was, well lets just say he would make a hippo proud! GrayMo is due to go to a showing clinic on Monday - scary as I haven't had something that even remotely resembles a lesson in 15 years ...

Whilst I am expecting some rain tomorrow I do live in Scotland so I wouldn't be surprised if it turns into a full blown snowstorm!

On Saturday the boy is getting his legs clipped and mane and tail pulled  have been putting it off too long...his forelock is in his eyes and his legs resemble loo brushes  he will be a bog pony no more :D

Wow, seems like quite a few of us have picked this week for subjecting our neds to spa sessions! I have to say, whilst Ben isn't keen on having his mane pulled he was much better than last time and really good for having his tail pulled... Makes me cringe just doing it, but I took really tiny pieces and was as swift as possible... So proud of him for standing for it and making my life much easier!

We used to have an lane running through our old small holding, it was part of the old helston Redruth road... High Cornish hedges on either side and lovely firm but grassy ground... We used to run the horses up this over jumps... I'm considering putting some fencing and stakes in the school to make a circuit when I teach Ben to jump over loose jumps as he is just hairbrained when loose schooling... No focus at all and lots of bucking and rearing and squealing whilst running up to you full pelt ears forward with enthusiasm... I'm always bricking it he won't stop:eek::eek::eek: can't wait till our showing plans are over, then we can play over some jumps and work towards entering a few mini stakes and clear rounds at the end of the season!

:eek::eek: poor wee man! He's not going to be chuffed tomorrow! On the subject of lessons, I've had three in the last ten years... Each by different instructors... I'm amazed at how much I learnt just from one session with each, strangely far more than if I had lessons every week.
