Please could somebody identify this plant for me...sorry the photos are rubbish the plant seems to just blend in with the background.

And is this tree Ash and if so is it safe for my ponies to eat? There seems to be a lot of it on the ground at the mo presumably after high winds and they seem to be enjoying munching on it, just want to make sure it's safe!

Ahh thank you yes I think it is knapweed although after having a look on some plant identification sites I think it is actually the common variety rather than greater. I knew I remembered it from last year having purple flowers!

What a shame my ponies field all full of plants they don't want to eat!
 
You might want to use a broadleaf herbicide on the Knapweed, as although it is harmless to animals it is extremely invasive and will eventually take over completely and you won't have much grass left.
 
Don't talk to me about invasive weeds!!! I'm already battling creeping buttercup, common hogweed, nettles and a bit of dock. Bloody nightmare!!!
